The final assembly of Stormbreak is a solemn affair, a last lingering assembly of mourners once the casket is in the ground. All that's left is to throw in those final handfuls of crumbling earth. Koa doesn't smile at his friends; he has no smiles left. They're ushering the last stragglers onto ships as he draws into their midst. "Our quarter is clear," the Dragoon tells Zavien and Sohalia. "I think we're all that's left. Are you ready?"
Of course they're not. They never could have been. But they'll get through this, together.
Inhaling deeply, Koa reaches out to that shimmering thread that connects him to the divine. He hasn't seen his goddess in too long, but now he calls for Safrin in his heart, willing her to come and see the end of the world at his side.
