Marcus
someone wise told me once
to keep my chin held high
It seemed so simple, yet from his experiencee felt just as far away.

Her magic danced, bending elements without strain (at least in the outward appearance of it, as she cleared up afterward), coaxing them into form. "Well," He sucked in a breath, "I can't bend or manipulate any of the elements. So far I’m more subtle in what I can do.” Did he mean small? “I can heal small wounds, mostly. And I can mend.” He tapped the counter lightly. “I can fix broken things. Biggest I've been able to fix is a mirror."

His magic wasn’t flashy; it didn’t twist the world into glittering shapes or make objects vanish into impossibility. Instead, it worked quietly, steadily—mending, soothing, restoring. Small, subtle acts that rarely drew attention, but carried weight nonetheless, offering relief to people and stability to the things they depended on. “I can soothe someone’s emotions, too. Calm them down, help them breathe through fear or anger." He let his eyes follow the bird as it flitted across the open room of the lodge.

"I'd love to be able to do more. Evie Ignatius has been helping me train my magic basically since it surfaced, but I haven't gotten any stronger, per say. Just had more abilities come to the top."  Fascinated by the effortless way she moved between wonder and focus, he moved around the counter without thinking, so that he slid into the stool next to where she perched on the coutner rather than look at her from across it. He really only noticed what he had done when he turned his cerulean gaze from the bird and back to her, and realized how close he was now. Marcus felt a surge of admiration that had nothing to do with envy.

"It's uh, nice to have met someone like me." Someone that wasn't Deimos -- not that the Warden wasn't good, or even a true friend, but he was so much Marcus' elder and superior it felt harder to connect to him. Nova, being so close to his age, felt easier.
and be brave
