There was a muffled crash from the next room, and then a followed grumble that she chose to ignore for the state of things here; the welcoming grandeur heightened by the Frey aspects of the rooms. She found herself staring out the window, a wistful smile on her face, watching the views and venues alter; the sunset suddenly very clear in its vivid hues. It made her wonder if there could be the crimson peaks and valleys of the Dragon’s Throat laden out amidst the world – just for another moment – with leathery wings above and an oasis sprung between palms and dunes of sand. But then she shifted her gaze from it, took another sip, unaware of the impending aspects.
She’d expected a shrug or tales of Ru not being found, lost into the weary aspects of Caido. The unknown might’ve been a better plunge – as his words poured outward, her head swung back, eyes widening. The Draig. Fought a dragon. Dead.
Then the mishandling. Engagements done.
Her eyes went to Iskra first, though her reaction was more to mouth ‘what the fuck’ before he had his own reaction. It gave her half a second to think, to slink and walk over, pat at his back as he choked, coughed, and sputtered. The Honeybee had been under the impression that the Valkyrie had simply left, without sign or warning, and went on into the abyss – a selfish prowl. Being mauled by a dragon held a different ring to the notes now though, and she uttered one word initially. “Fuck.” Then her mind coiled at the rest; the silence, the unknown, feeling guilt pool into her stomach but frustration claw at the rest. “I mean, that sucks. But couldn’t she have…I don’t know, given you a note through Remi or something?” Just as they’d once saved Zavien from his fate in Halo by message – and thereafter she wondered if she was simply making things worse.
Taking the opportunity and plucking the umbrella from behind Iskra’s ear to put behind hers, she went back to staring at her drink; alcohol wasn’t going to be enough to buzz through this though.
