He pauses to lock eyes with Mel again as she supplements more of the missing pieces, and he nods in turn, the motion of understanding quickly breaking apart into a sad shake of his head at the reality of that truth. "That's...a lot," he admits slowly, pulling at the back of his neck with the awkwardness of the state of affairs that Sunjata has found himself in. All for the sake of love. How well he knows that impossibly strong tug.
Chewing on meat as well as thoughts, his attention ping pongs from Mel to Sunjata. Much as he's cringing at how fucked everything is for the Heartless, he's on the edge of his...plate, over what could be next. His mind does not immediately leap to gods, as is the general way of an Abandoned with few connections to them, but it still doesn't land as a surprise when Sunjata admits he expects he'll need to quest with Frey. "What does it...feel like? Is there, do you feel its absence?" Does he grieve it, the way you do a person, or does it already feel normal, like a pulled tooth that's healed? Is he at risk of forgetting himself if he delays too long like this, the way weeds take over what has been gardened when the flowers are ignored too long? This does not feel like a simple matter, all things considered.
A small laugh breaks free as Sunjata shakes it off like all he's done is tell them a terribly bad ghost story. "No, don't say that," he reassures, smile tilting in around a swallowed bite. "This feels like exactly the thing a family dinner should be for. Because who else, if not family, to help you?" A brow arches up, unsure he could so easily be adding his name to the hat of family here, but he does like Sunjata after all, and being Mel's uncle, Iskra would be sure to assist, however he could manage to. As for how they're doing, he leaves that for Mel to declare, too focused on his meal and assuaging Sunjata's concern.
