And not because of anything that befalls him, oh no - in true Astaroth fashion, his lover takes to his fyrhund shift and completely overshoots his aim, the Maverick watching with blank confusion as the clumsy pass takes place.
"Are we going to pretend you meant to do that?" he wonders, half amused - but then the cockatrice descends and, more importantly, connects, and everything becomes more serious all of a sudden.
"Oh no you fucking don't," Danta mutters, lips peeling back in a snarl, and he lances another arc of fire towards the creature to try and draw its attention away. And more importantly, of course, to burn the fuck out of it as well.
