But he’d minded his parents, to an extent, revered them for what they were, and had learned, grown, under a wondrous sun and beside the ocean; where all sorts of wild factions could roam as they pleased. Until, eventually, childhood ripped away with pinnacles of war – stripped and peeled and carved into something else entirely. And while he still fought those battles, it was to ensure the greater expanse of Caido didn’t have to suffer, including his and Evie’s own progeny making their way through this earth. Agreed, he noted, chasing down one child and tagging them with the flaming stick; wheeling around soon after.
