The mimicry is unmistakable—those insufferable little evangelists of nonsense—and he exhales softly through his nose before across the water, something sharpens.
Thalassa's mind finds him not in clarity but in contour, a familiar edge at the boundary of his reach; heat coiled tight beneath control, irritation pricked with satisfaction, and beneath it the faint, metallic sting of reopened skin. Shadow gathers at his heels, light bending just slightly out of true as he misty-steps away from the riverbank, reappearing deeper within the trees where the Stone Symphony’s song is softer and her thoughts fade once more into indistinct distance.
