She’d tried to word her question as gently as she knew how, but she’d still managed to fluster Zavien - a novelty, really, given how entirely unflustered he’d been when they’d slept together. It was like seeing a completely new side of him - an endearing side, one where he seemed to be just as unsure as she was. She lifted her wine glass to her lips to hide her smile. How did even this reaction manage to make her heart stutter so in her chest?
His ‘but’ gave her pause, but only for a moment; he was quick to try and explain himself, and Soh gave him the courtesy, as he’d so often given her, of waiting for him to find a way to do so that seemed to work. She was nodding along as he spoke, satisfied by the answer he gave. While she certainly wouldn’t complain about sleeping with him again - in fact, she rather hoped that they might have the chance sooner rather than later - she didn’t want that to be the basis of their relationship. They already knew they had chemistry, both in and out of the bedroom. Now it only remained to see where that took them next. ”That makes sense,” she assured him. ”And I think we’re on the same page. I just didn’t want there to be any pressure either way, you know?”
Skimming her thumb across his knuckles, Soh smiled. ”Now it’s your turn,” she announced. ”Any burning questions you want to get off your chest?” She rather thought they’d covered all their bases, but perhaps Zavien felt differently. He’d given her the space to voice her questions, so now she would do the same for him.
