Content to leave the subject of why he’d been at the Mathair in the past for the moment at least, the Heartless lets Niki’s news of moving warm him and give him something to look forward to. Perhaps it wasn’t going to be an awful mass exodus like he’d thought King’s End was about to go through. And for now, that’s perhaps all he can ask for. At least there’d be somebody new – fresh blood, as it were.
At Niki’s thank you, his smile lingers – boyish and easy on the panes of his scarred face as he nods. “Sounds good.” Is what he says rather than the initial thing that comes to mind – that he doesn’t really have anywhere else to go, that he’s pretty much expecting to be in King’s End for the foreseeable future unless something he can’t anticipate calls him away.
“I did, but, I think I should probably give another one. It didn’t feel like she got enough attention given everything else.” He admits with a slight wince – though he isn’t sure what the Mathair could do to him now that was worse than what he’s already going through. “Unless she doesn’t mind.” To this, he looks at Niki like he might have more information on the goddess that resided in his current region.
