All I know is this could either break my heart or bring it back to life
Her name was on his lips, a moan that meant so many things at once, and she heard them all, her mind scrambling to overcome the fire that had been stoked from the first moment their lips touched. She wanted this, wanted him, so badly that the flames threatened to consume her. And she would let them - let him - burn her alive if it came to that.
But it wouldn’t, because despite the raging inferno, she trusted Zavien to keep her safe. And, as it turned out, that trust was well-placed.
Tell me to stop and I will, he said, and she wasn’t sure if he was asking or telling. Every inch of her being was begging for more, and yet his strangled words gave her enough pause to remember why they hadn’t already leapt into bed together. They’d made a promise to build a relationship on more than just good sex - and despite the heat and the need and the voice in the back of her mind begging him not to stop, she fully intended to honor that promise.
But that didn’t mean that the primal part of her that needed him now wasn’t going to put up a fight. ”I don’t want to,” she admitted, her words a gasp against his lips. She kissed him again, briefly. ”I don’t want to, but I will -“ she tried again, pressing her forehead once more to his, mirroring the encounter from earlier. Her fingers were still tangled in his hair, her body still pressed closely to his, her desire tangling up her thoughts until she no longer knew what she needed or wanted. She needed to keep going. She wanted to stop. No, that wasn’t right - was it?
”Zavien -“ she murmured, voice strained. ”- I don’t think I can tell you to stop.” She was asking, begging, for his help, but whether that meant stopping or not remained to be seen.
