At first, she manages to maintain her hold, hand snapping down to grip against the tip of balance, but when it panics and hits the trunk again, Nova feels her fingers scrape and lose their purchase.
A sharp cry escapes when she's greeted by open air and sharp tree branches. They snag and rip at her rainbow clothes, drawing thin lines of blood when it finds skin beneath. Magic instinctually rises to her defense, air whipping around her in a defensive shield that cushions her fall, although she still hits the dirt with an annoyed humph.
Sprawled inelegantly on the ground, Nova searches furiously for the culprit. She doesn't even care about the cut stinging above her eye, the blue nearly glowing as she pinpoints where the allogator is attempting to retreat. Colt's offer for healing is promptly ignored, a growl rumbling low in her throat. "Look what it did to my clothes!!" Claws partially form on her hand as she throws it towards the beast, rage sending a cutting slice of air magic with it, like an extension of the claws that have taken form.
Nova catches herself using air magic and throws a slice at the allogator.
