She searched his face, feeling heartsick. Her gaze fell to his necklace, and she reached to brush her fingers along the gold pendant. Something in her softened, bending instead of breaking, and she took a shuddering, fragile breath. "I know how you feel about me, I promise I do. It's the same way I feel about you."
