"Traitor," she mutters under her breath, though the word comes out with too much glitter at the edges to land as anything but affection, her arm tightening through Kai’s as if she can still hold him in place by sheer will, excellent posture, and the sort of manicured grip that has absolutely yanked worse decisions back from the brink.
