The beast falls before she can get to it, Kaisel's weapon slicing cleanly through. It doesn't fall in wails or screams or splatters of glittering blood. In fact, it doesn't even really fall. It just flutters away in the wind like a handful of glittering sand and shadows that hadn't even been there to begin with. Except that Nova can still see the carnage around them, she can still make out the gouges in the earth, she can still see the others poised for another attack.
Her sprint slowly loses its energy, feet plodding heavier into the sand without the same rush as before. The disappointment pulls at her until she's slowing to a walk, huffing a breath as she watches Kaisel gather whatever had been left where the massive creature once stood. None of her attacks had landed and she purses her invisible lips, grappling between her frustration and the relief at seeing the creature killed - at least she hopes it's truly dead.
With nothing left to entertain her and no wounds to speak of, Nova turns to leave, calling forth a dry breeze to cool the bit of sweat that had gathered along the nape of her neck. However, her name pierces the air like a vicious accusation, stopping Nova in her tracks. Confused, she looks to Colt, only the deepening indent of sand visible as she tilts her head. "How am I supposed to know? I've never seen one before."
