It didn't feel like Liam was that much older than him, despite having built and lost a family, despite having lived a whole separate life. Despite all of that, Liam never gave him the impression of being old, especially as he swung the sword at him again.
Zavien regained his footing through the instinctual block, his feet shifting to anticipate the fluctuating weight as he moved again. Their blades clashed then broke apart, his arms feeling strange with the sudden lack of resistance when he swung to block Liam's next attack. It moved quick before settling heavy in his hands, heavy enough for him to dig in his heels and push against the contact in hopes of disrupting the man's balance.
