"Careful, love. Fluff my ego too much an' I'll start makin' mistakes," Jack says, purring the words through a sly smile as he glances sidelong at The Ark. He doesn't truly believe that of course - such is the nature of arrogance and the pleasure of having it - but the illusion of humility is always good to practice. Laughing warmly as she rolls languidly onto her stomach, the Captain raises his eyebrows all too knowingly. "If we were lookin' at another few seasons in King's End I'd take you up on the offer. But I reckon our days are 'bout to get busy enough without findin' ways to spend 'em."
Speaking of which, the prospect of meetings aboard ships has the smile on his face turning quietly interested too, Jack's expression fading into one of casual concentration; already he's busy flicking through his mental list of captains and contacts, of where and who to approach first and which ships will be best to tweak under The Ark's thumb. "You're 'bout to become even more of a household name on those islands, y'know," he says, flashing her a pirate's smile. "Hope you're ready for infamy."
She's already got it as the red-sailed galleon that disappears under the bloody banner of sunset, but this will be something else. And if that something else happens to coincide with all of Torchline's best and brightest being conveniently out of the region? "Huh," he echoes. "Who knows what the Hot Take and her new husband will come back home to find, mm?"
