JACK
Spreading his hands with all the airy acceptance of someone who is very used to hearing that they're right, Jack grabs his coat from the back of his chair and steps out to shrug back into it, the dark leather flaring out like a living shadow before it settles around him again. "If I ever find out Vox is back an' flingin' ships around lookin' like that," he says dryly, "I'll pretend I didn't know."
Once upon a time her easy humour would have been enough to soften the sharp edges of him, the crooked and occasionally ridiculous slant of her thoughts bringing a levity to his otherwise surly demeanour. Now, though, the complicated tangle that starts to grow from the garden of her mind hits the walls of his magic without breaching it, and Jack turns up his collar and heads for the door.
"Don't thank me yet," he calls over his shoulder. He might yet end up inviting further trouble before this is all resolved; such is the nature of poking one's nose where it doesn't belong. At least for tonight, though, there's an agreement, and the Captain opens the door to step back out into the rain.
Almost immediately his expression clears into something that, at one point, only Flora could have caused, the smile on his face almost sly in its affection. "Hello, love," he purrs to the presence outside, and then disappears into the dark.
