Character of the Season
Frail in body but dangerously quick of mind, Nikandr is the sort of character who proves that curiosity can be just as perilous as any weapon. A necromancer, inventor, and problem-solver with more ambition than self-preservation, Niki approaches the world like a puzzle box begging to be opened, even when what’s inside has teeth. Blunt, dry-witted, fiercely independent, and carrying a history best left partially buried, he has a knack for making even failure feel fascinating. Whether he’s raising the dead, moving across Caido to King's End, or experiencing a hangover for the first time, Nikandr brings a wonderfully strange spark to Caido, and we can’t wait to see what trouble his brilliant mind wanders into next.
Congratulations, Niki!

It was hard to resist the urge to playfully roll his eyes, though given the amount of coaxing it had taken to get the Launceleyn to this point, the alchemist thought best not to push too hard. Still, Ronin's roguishness had indeed worn off on him, and so with a crooked smile cheerfully exaggerated puff of air, the alchemist asked, "Have you always been like this?"
Folding his arms against a chest much broader than Loren had ever known it to be, the alchemist glanced back towards the open door of his shop. "These keys of Zariah then.." He murmured, pulling them back to the original reason for this strange meeting. "I really do not know where or what she has done with them. The penitentiary perhaps?" Biting the inside of his cheek as the memories of what he'd done and under what duress came flooding back, the alchemist sighed out the anxiety he felt in a succinct burst. "There are many hidden passageways. I can see now in my own way, but Zariah took me right after I was blinded, when I could not see anything at all. I think I could feel them out, however. All the locks are magical, I would need to...to touch them again, in order to make a new key. I can, if you think it necessary. You are not wrong to worry what is behind the doors." The alchemist began, reiterating what he'd said but with perhaps more openness given he now knew to whom he spoke. Sort of, anyways. His accent was a good deal more smoothed out, in any event.
