Dead men walking

Once upon a time they might have played a battle of wits, or debated philosophy or at the very least joked about it. And maybe one day a similar conversation would take place - that time was not today, unfortunately. As Loren chastised him for apparently giving up, Ronin at least had the decency to scowl at the other man; it was rich, coming from someone who had literally swanned off for a year. But then Remi's name fell from the Launceleyn's lips, and before he could even get angry about it, he realised that Loren was right. "Alright," he said quietly, nodding agreement and moving to lay down again upon the bed, hit head hitting the pillow near instantly. His eyes were closed but he still heard Loren's words, letting out a deep sigh as though he could just sink through the mattress. Did he believe that the librarian was back for good? Of course not. Had he not once fought to make Loren believe he was more than just a tool? Yes.
