Ru'in's dislike of the bard's song isn't Jigano's concern. Ru'in isn't his concern, or at least not so much as Kiada is. He was sent to sing to her lost lover's soul, to walk at her side in the dark on this tragic quest, and even if it is foolish he won't risk his song failing when it is needed. If the monster who was a man didn't like it, he could take it up with Kiada and Ludo after he had been brought safely back to the light.
Or not so safely, as it happened.
He gave them what privacy he could while staying close enough to be Kiada's shadow, close enough to be her armor against the night. His eyes darted around, trying to pierce the veil of ink beyond the edges of their light, and he was not caught off guard when the big man bellowed his warning and the shadows lashed out, determined to paint the snow red to match Ru'in's black cascade. Hold to Ludo's promise! Unnecessary encouragement to both of the wounded souls as he twisted to try and knock the tendrils aside with the shield strapped to his arm, angling it so they wouldn't strike flat but would instead be deflected, hopefully preventing them from trying to curl around the edges of the metal. The lantern in his hand would provide its own light upon the problem, but Jigano wasn't going to let himself get too cocky about it as his song took on a harder edge. As he spun back-to-back with Kiada he also lashed out at the inky tentacles with the luxere-antler staff, hoping to burn them away before they could reach either Kiada or Ru'in behind him.
