Haai appreciates the giggles, full of immense energy as she darts around much to Sunjata’s chagrin. And when Melita mentions she’s better than all right, he snorts and shakes his head. “Oh, don’t fill her head with anything.” He rumbles in amusement, wiping the mud from his hands to lean forward and watch the interaction between companion and companion.
While Melita holds her breath, Sunjata holds his too. But he releases it in a quiet sigh as the gourd grows playful, a teethy grin and playfulness and grumble, Haai’s tail begins to wiggle excitedly – a yelp of attention given toward the gourd before the tiny griffin hops off of Melita’s lap and aims to try and have Fangorn chase her in a game of tag.
He doesn’t realize he’s grown solemn until Melita apologizes, and his steel gaze lifts toward hers with a soft smile gracing them. “Hey, no, don’t apologize.” He doesn’t know what she has to be sorry for. It was a kind suggestion, it just… Hit a little too close to reality sometimes. And he knows she feels that way too, having heard the story of Helovia in the end. He lifts his knees up to rest his arms against them and lean toward her to watch their companions, feeling the brightness from Haai dull out the shadows that have grown taller. “We won’t be alone, though. If not for them, but you’ve got me.” He says, tilting his head toward her with a roguish smile.
