OLIVER
Oliver had seen Loren fail to summon animals, but when he seemingly tried to heal him, nothing happened. It was alarming and terrifying. He mustered up his strength to fight but no matter what he tried, absolutely nothing worked. No amount of effort of violence had done anything to even touch the monster. He was exhausted and in intense pain. Sunjata was in a similar position and as much as it pained him, Oliver knew he couldn’t do anything to help. None of his attacks had landed, not a single one. He needed to leave before his body gave out on him.
”I’m going, Loren. I’m sorry for not helping more,” Part of this felt like a potential final goodbye. Already he had been damaged enough and the monster wasn’t ready to quit. One final swipe and he’d be done, obliterated from existence. ”I hope to see you soon.” If only he could communicate in this form as an attuned. Then he’d be able to send Loren all of the emotions he was feeling, show the man how thankful he was for everything and that he truly felt sorry for leaving. What he was doing was unforgivable, but Oliver was not ready to die.
Just before leaving, he tried to toss a rock from the opposite direction, hoping to distract the monster. Maybe he’d look over there instead of at him. Slowly separating, Oliver mustered up energy to try and create and illusion around him. A suit of sorts that tried to mimic to grass and dirt under his feet. And then off he went. Running as fast as he could away from the chaos, praying under his breath to Safrin. ”Safrin, please protect me. Keep me safe. Please....”
