Character of the Season
Frail in body but dangerously quick of mind, Nikandr is the sort of character who proves that curiosity can be just as perilous as any weapon. A necromancer, inventor, and problem-solver with more ambition than self-preservation, Niki approaches the world like a puzzle box begging to be opened, even when what’s inside has teeth. Blunt, dry-witted, fiercely independent, and carrying a history best left partially buried, he has a knack for making even failure feel fascinating. Whether he’s raising the dead, moving across Caido to King's End, or experiencing a hangover for the first time, Nikandr brings a wonderfully strange spark to Caido, and we can’t wait to see what trouble his brilliant mind wanders into next.
Congratulations, Niki!

As Isla appeared at his side, he flashed the blonde a grin. The mane collar he’d created for himself grew bulkier and his eyebrows grew decidedly longer for just a moment as he struck a temporary pose, raising his chin handsomely and gazing at the cavern ceiling. ”Your attention to detail is astounding.” He teased now looking more lion than man, before letting the hairier parts of his half-shift to disappear leaving him as he had been.
Like most likely would, Remi looked around before looking down–and then he only did so because he saw Jigano kneel and then train his eyes upon the ice. Listening as the others spoke (were they meant to take turns?) Remi swallowed thoughtfully.
What did he regret?
Lots of things probably should have come to mind. His relationship with Loren, leaving Ianto’s bed that first night, turning Ronin’s echo into the lobster-Echo, following Ludo the few times he had ... but did he truly regret those things and those like them? Would he really have done anything differently? As many emotional drawbacks as there were with Remi’s particular brand of kindness and naive generosity, regret was not normally one of them.
As the tigress spoke, Remi considered her answer. Nothing also seemed to be what the alchemist was tempted to say but–
–no. That wasn’t true. For he hadn’t always been this way. He was kind as a boy to be sure, but he had still just been a boy. And he’d been selfish.
”Not spending more time with my mother while she was still alive.” The alchemist said, the smile on his lips sad and weighty with remembrance. The glisten in his pale stare was one of overwhelming love and loss, even though he’d lost his mother at only 6–an age that perhaps many would think would have been long ago for the sting of losing her to no longer be as painful. ”I regret experiencing the world on my own without her at my side, thinking that she would always be there to talk to and share my life with.” So saying Remi swallowed and cleared his throat gently, eyes falling softly on the woman in the ice below.
