He held out his arm. "But go ahead. I'm dying to find out how Ascended fluid tastes." Arm still outstretched, he waggled his fingers at her.
As she shifted to sit next to him, he shifted as well to block out the worst of the wind. It didn't bother him, obviously, though she was looking worse for wear. However, he turned to her, legitimately surprised by her question. "What, all those scary stories didn't tell you?" He was teasing her more by rote than anything else, and his expression grew a bit more serious. "We can use the abilities of those we drink from. Just once, though." He was actually shocked she didn't know that already.
