Warmth and life and fleshy bits... Sitting pressed against a door... locked but so flimsy. Locked but so unprotected. Scratching, at first. That is what Sam would hear. Scratching, and a soft whining noise, which grew higher and more insistent, like a dog waiting to be let inside. Only all at once the whining erupted into a chorus of screams, loud and anguished and echoing, and the door rattled violently on its hinges.
