Chulane still seemed distant, but at least it was clear he was paying attention to Loren. Not minding the vet's wince, the healer flagged down one of the servers and requested a cider. One was delivered, but he didn't drink. Instead, he just spun the mug around in his fingers.
Nodding at the other man's question that wasn't a question, the Firebrand sighed. "They do." Astra let out a contented bleat, closing her eyes as Chulane's fingers stroked her fur. The healer smiled at the sight before returning his gaze to the vet's face.
The Firebrand used his free hand to push the spoon he'd brought closer to the other man. "I didn't ask for it. But sometimes life gives you things you don't ask for and certainly don't deserve."
