Character of the Season
Frail in body but dangerously quick of mind, Nikandr is the sort of character who proves that curiosity can be just as perilous as any weapon. A necromancer, inventor, and problem-solver with more ambition than self-preservation, Niki approaches the world like a puzzle box begging to be opened, even when what’s inside has teeth. Blunt, dry-witted, fiercely independent, and carrying a history best left partially buried, he has a knack for making even failure feel fascinating. Whether he’s raising the dead, moving across Caido to King's End, or experiencing a hangover for the first time, Nikandr brings a wonderfully strange spark to Caido, and we can’t wait to see what trouble his brilliant mind wanders into next.

I saw exactly what was true
Gideon absentmindedly watched Luciana work, somewhere in the back of his mind wondering where it was she'd learnt this, how she knew where to make each cut without even measuring or planning; he was not terrible with his own hands, having spent many years assisting with tough labour, but when it came to the small details, the workings of fitting things together, he could never hope to match someone like this. Her question took him away from that thought as he nodded, letting out a quiet huff of laughter. "Exactly. Heard he was hanging out with Ascended and all sorts, last time someone told me about him."
An unexpected laugh left him as she joked about herself. He considered leaving it there and letting the conversation awkwardly dangle off into silence until she was done, but he found he wasn't actually minding talking to her; looking over, he asked: "Are you making a lantern for anyone this year?" Maybe it was a personal question, but in his role he was used to discussing the very personal with people he didn't know very well.
