Character of the Season
Frail in body but dangerously quick of mind, Nikandr is the sort of character who proves that curiosity can be just as perilous as any weapon. A necromancer, inventor, and problem-solver with more ambition than self-preservation, Niki approaches the world like a puzzle box begging to be opened, even when what’s inside has teeth. Blunt, dry-witted, fiercely independent, and carrying a history best left partially buried, he has a knack for making even failure feel fascinating. Whether he’s raising the dead, moving across Caido to King's End, or experiencing a hangover for the first time, Nikandr brings a wonderfully strange spark to Caido, and we can’t wait to see what trouble his brilliant mind wanders into next.
Congratulations, Niki!

the devil you know is better than the ghost you don't
What happened as he struck out at the Warden surprised him. Her hammer swung at his spear, but did not connect. He watched as the woman stumbled as if it all happened in slow motion. He stopped his forward advance as she hit the ground, and merely blinked. He did not know how to respond -- if this were Korbin, or even Weaver, sprawled out before him, he would have started laughing his ass off. He would have laughed until tears streamed down his face.
but he would never do such a thing to her, not even when she joked at her own expense.
So he waited. He watched. He kept his face neutral and tried to compose himself internally once more. She regained her balance and composure, and left him with the opportunity to start their spar again. He swallowed, and moved once more. This time, he advanced closer to the Warden as he intended before. He tried to jab his spear out towards her, aiming for her feet. Perhaps he could push her back enough to make her stumble again.
