Character of the Season
Frail in body but dangerously quick of mind, Nikandr is the sort of character who proves that curiosity can be just as perilous as any weapon. A necromancer, inventor, and problem-solver with more ambition than self-preservation, Niki approaches the world like a puzzle box begging to be opened, even when what’s inside has teeth. Blunt, dry-witted, fiercely independent, and carrying a history best left partially buried, he has a knack for making even failure feel fascinating. Whether he’s raising the dead, moving across Caido to King's End, or experiencing a hangover for the first time, Nikandr brings a wonderfully strange spark to Caido, and we can’t wait to see what trouble his brilliant mind wanders into next.
Congratulations, Niki!

the devil you know is better than the ghost you don't
He swung his antlers and moved forward, grappling down for his spear. Morgan moved back and the hunter's grin stayed. Not only was he glad his attack was useful, but also that he received a compliment from the Warden. Her simple use of the word good was enough to spark some pride in Noah's chest -- maybe he knew more than he thought. While he might not be a seasoned warrior, his instinct to survive, and his time balanced between the tundra and this training ground throughout his life served him well.
He lifted his head and tried to regain his balance, his fingers curling around the spear he had recovered. The antlers that had sprouted so quickly disappeared just as and the hunter watched as Morgan continued her backward retreat. Noah lifted his eyes briefly and watched how close she was coming to the wall. He followed her, moving forward as swift as his legs would carry him. He turned some, carefully, and brought his spear up in a mighty swing, hoping to keep her retreating backward and knock into the hard, cold stone.
