The praise bolsters her a bit and she smiles, but it isn't more than a twitch at the corners of her mouth. The kiss helps soothe the nerves in her belly, but it isn't enough to fully put her at ease. Especially when he lets go of her. She shakes her head, trying to crane her neck so she can see him better. Her whole body dips below the water and she yelps, arms moving just short of frantically. "Locke.." Maeve's voice pitches up, chin jutting out as the water sloshes up towards her face thanks to her movements. He's right there, though. His hands coming up to brace her, helping her sit up a little bit so the water doesn't wash over her as it was before.

Her tip toes barely reach the bottom and the water reaches up to her collarbone. Maeve presses against him, wrapping her arms around his neck and her legs around his waist, "I'm not very good at this."
