"....... Oh! Uh... sorry?" Tal winced as Flora pointed out the blatantly obvious social cue that he'd missed. He still didn't know what he'd said to piss her off having never met Jack and utterly clueless to Flora's love life issues, but at least he could tell when it was time to put the shovel down, even if the hole was too deep to climb out of.
He reached for the lifeline she offered with relief, genuinely impressed with the Queen's power to pull down one of the Big Three. Her advice was pretty solid, too, though the way her voice got soft - not a tone Tal was usually in a position to hear from her - had him cocking his head at her curiously and opening his mouth--
And stopping juuuust before he could stick his boot in it. "Thanks, Flora," he said instead after an awkward hesitation. "I need all th'help I can get." A sheepish admission but an honest one as he stood up. "I better get back t'work but... good luck with your quest. An' thanks for th'drink. It was good t'catch up so, hey, maybe we can do it more often?" He was already edging for the door, well-fortified (and maybe just a little tipsy) for his next delivery!
