Eating fire is your ambition to swallow the flame down
Well, Thalassa would be in a little bit of luck – as now there would be much more excitement.
In the way of invisible movement and arrows and all that jazz.
Without any explanation whatsoever, because the Honeybee had no intention of revealing herself within the shores of the ocean waves, or announcing she’d been a fucking frog, she snagged back along the container of her quiver. An alteration in elements might’ve proved at least a trifle more amusing, as the lyvern seemed to be incensed over something.
Pinpointing her aim at the very large target nearby, she fired off another arrow. If the animal was really keen and attentive, it might’ve heard the sparking, zapping sounds heading straight for her.

Completely unaware of literally everything Melita was doing behind her back, Thal was still whipping her head around to spot the demigod when the zapping arrow hit her in the side. That made three arrows having hit her, and they hurt. The red of her blood splattered against the sand at this point. Not enough to have her feeling the blood loss, but just enough to enrage her further.
If she was smarter, she'd probably just call the spar now and leave with her tail between her legs. But sometimes stubbornness screams louder that the logic. So Thal spun to where the arrow had come from, charging towards the water. This time, she didn't swing her leg blindly, she flicked her tail forward, lighting fast to sweep across the sand and water, hoping to reveal the location of the invisible opponent.

Melita was stubborn too, which made the whole issue probably that much worse. Try as she might on this particular interval though, she couldn’t quite outrun the slash of the woman’s tail. And though luckily she didn’t land directly in the water (thanks to her anklet), she still hit the surface sharply. It was enough for a hiss of her breath, and then a quick juxtaposition, angling herself out of reach of the next bombardment as she lifted and launched.
Embarrassing, really. Good thing no one had actually been able to see that.
Shaking her head, she snagged at another lightning-based arrow, hoping perhaps this would be enough for the lyvern to truly have had enough, or they were going to be at it for a while. She loosened the strand and set the armament flying once again, this time for the broad expanse of the Ancient’s back.

Perhaps in a competition of stubbornness, one of the participants had to be incapacitated in order for things to end without death. Unluckily for Thal, she was obviously the weaker of the two, and already injured. Having felt the place that Melita's body had hit on her tail, she turned her head and lunged forward with the intention of attacking again. Water sprayed up around her, obscuring her vision and making enough noise to leave her unable to notice the incoming arrow.
The demigod may have aimed for the back, but Thal's movement put her facing down the projectile, earning her a powerful, close-range smack in the temple.
Shaking her head at the throbbing pain that radiated through her skull, she tried futilely to continue her charge, only to find herself knee-deep in water, dazed. The blow had left her brain fuzzy, pulling enough concentration to force her back into her Ancient form. If that wasn't indication enough for her loss, the blood streaming from her head, side, and leg was pretty obvious as it stained the water red around her.

Sometimes the whole ‘training’ aspect got out of hand, and by these notions, Melita had, for more or less, become a bit of a shithead demon about the whole thing. She would’ve liked to have said Thalassa started it by coming out with a huge ass shift, but the Honeybee absolutely amplified it by being an invisible turd. Maybe they were both shits.
But rather than readily admit that out loud or betray a growing self-awareness, the smuggler watched as the Ancient went back to her former self. Or what was left of her – bleeding profusely seemed to be a current issue. Cringing and grimacing only slightly, because it could’ve been worse, she cupped her hands around her mouth, remaining intangible in case this was all a ruse. “Have you had enough?”

From her kneeled position in the water, it was hard to focus, but she was pretty sure the woman was still invisible. That was the only logical explanation for the disembodied voice, right? As much as she wanted to keep fighting, she could barely stand without the world shifting. But pride wouldn't let her admit defeat, so instead, she lifted her middle finger directly in the sky. Even if she was across the beach, she should be able to see the universal symbol.
Placing one foot forward, Thal made it halfway to her feet. The waves splashed against her sand-crusted boots, stinging the wound on her leg something fierce. Gritting her teeth to growl against the pain, she flashed her fangs. "Next time, I'm going to light you on fire." She'd probably just spread her flames everywhere until she hit the invisible woman. It probably wouldn't do much, but it'd have a wider reach than her lyvern shift.

Snorting at the response, full of her own tenaciousness, sedition, and audacity. “You’d have to find me first.” Thalassa could have all her ferocity and pride, but Melita had it as well; with the multiple chips on her shoulder and death to prove it. Letting the other slink off to do whatever, the demigod snagged at her supplies, giving a ta-ta wave the Ancient wouldn’t be able to see; brushing off the interchangeable displays of prickliness. Her companions soon followed, matching eye-rolling techniques on point – and perhaps the only sign the Honeybee had vacated the scene.
Though Melita would definitely have to keep working on the whole frog thing.
