What do you get when two ruthless assassins raise their daughter travelling through the wildest reaches of Caido? Take one look at Theea and you'll get a pretty good idea. Cheerful and tenacious in equal measure, and curious beyond all else, she began her journey on a mission to find those her mother once called family. And find them she did, soon rubbing elbows with demigods, leaders and even ghosts from the past. Her determination is resolute, her thirst for knowledge unmatched. We can't wait to see where her next adventure takes her!

"Right," Alys agreed, deftly continuing her shuffling, if only to have something to do with her hands. "Death in the tarot means metamorphosis. It's more of a metaphorical death - the leaving behind of something old to embrace something new." Then she watched the exchange between the couple with amusement. The affection and playfulness between the two was clear even without her magic, but (at least in Flora's case), her newfound ability granted her an intimate look at just how deep those feelings ran.
Gods, but couples readings could be a challenge, and as the two continued to banter about the purpose of their reading, Alys waited with a mixture of amusement and impatience. She could only shuffle for so long, after all. "Perhaps a general relationship reading?" she suggested with a smile. "Not so much about the outcome of the relationship, but rather an interpretation of things that you do well and perhaps areas to work on together?"

Despite being in Alys' presence, Jack's words had the Doubletake utterly tongue-tied and twitterpated as she met the captain's bold blue stare. It was one thing to have him drape an arm around her chair or even to seek out her hand in a crowd, but it was another entirely to have him so explicitly cementing the status of their relationship in front of anyone else. Having to lift her chin as if the bubbles of delight that had formed in the back of her throat might spill out of her lips if she wasn't careful, the queen bit at the inside of her cheek as she fixed Jack with an affectionately menacing stare. "You keep that up and I'll start screaming I love yous from the rooftops." She warns, before glancing back to the seer.
"Ahem," despite the way Flora wanted to slide into Jack's lap, she did her best to focus on what Alys was saying despite the sudden flush of heat across her cheeks and the pounding of her heart. "Yeah, general would be great."

"Mmhm," Jack drawls with a smirk and a gentle raise of his eyebrows, as if in challenge. Gone are the days when Flora's antics could easily have gotten him sailing out of Haulani to avoid the repercussions. He has no doubt that she'd be able to still manage it, granted, but she'll have to up the ante. And given they they're about to have their fortunes read - and he can feel the soft prickle of impatience rolling from Alys - the captain also returns his attention to her.
"General as you like," he agrees, before the distant noise of shouting and ruckus sounds from outside the tent, somewhere down at the harbour. Frowning and not deigning to even look in that direction, the subtle tension in Jack's posture is nevertheless quite obvious. "And succinct, if you don't mind. I've a feelin' there's a lot of bullshit in my immediate future, based on that."

"General it is," Alys agreed, finally content to finish her shuffling by cutting the deck and setting it aside. Flora's adoration filled her senses, and she wondered vaguely if that was what she felt like when thinking about Tal. The captain and the queen were a cute pair, even if Jack was a bit surly; it seemed, even from a brief time with them, that they cared for one another deeply. Even if she couldn't get a read on Jack, Flora's love and devotion shone brightly enough for the both of them.
Focusing her attention on the task at hand, Alys drew a card and nearly laughed. It wasn't Death, but it was close enough that she thought the captain might actually get up and walk away. "The Hanged Man," she said, using her illusion magic to bring the image on the card to life. A man hung upside down, suspended by one leg. "Being suspended in time and space. Finding new perspectives. If this is a new relationship, this might be a time of learning one another more deeply. Allow yourself this time, and it will strengthen the relationship."

Knowing that Jack would absolutely tell her later if Alys had managed to force this particular card to the surface—it being the name of Flora's bar after all—in the meantime, the queen can only raise her eyebrows as she glances at the swinging man. Glancing over her shoulder at Jack, unable to help the shit-eating grin that had her lips twisting into a curve, Flora leaned into him, nose wrinkling. "Hear that? You have to learn me more deeply." It came out flirtatious and with no shortage of sexual undertones, but given the fact that both Jack and Alys had access to the colour of her emotions, no doubt either would be surprised.
The sound of smashing bottles and shouts of...not alarm, but encouragement, rose up through the din of the marketplace from somewhere down the road; it wouldn't take a fortune teller or a telepath to know that it likely meant their little trio would be losing one of its members.

Alys absolutely has not forced this particular card to the surface, as Jack will happily inform Flora later, and the captain is also left with a raised brow and a softly tilted head as he watches the illusion swing over the card between them. "Yeah? Maybe you need to learn me more deeply," he counters, as if Jack isn't one of the most difficult people to read and get to know in Torchline. (As Alys will likely be able to tell, both with and without her magic).
"Well, it wasn't death," he mutters, already rising to his feet as the continued sounds of said bullshit rattle their way through the air towards the trio. "But that might be comin' to someone soon, if I got anythin' to say about it. Enjoy the rest of the readin', love - duty calls." Duty, business, bribery and violence - could be all of them, Jack isn't sure yet.
Either way, the captain drops a brief kiss to Flora's hair and offers a quick nod to Alys before leaving the ladies to it, disappearing off towards the markets to find out what has happened. He's sure Flora will tell him later if the cards mysteriously predict their marriage or a house with a white picket fence. And if she doesn't? Let's be honest, he'll find out anyway.
