Character of the Season
Once known as the Butcher of Whitebrim, he's now The Butcher of Dygra, stepping forward as the first created demigod of the Ancients. There is no question that Astaroth casts an intimidating silhouette. Tall, domineering and dangerous, if looks could kill you'd be dead already, but to get up close and personal with the Grounds' resident cannibal tells a much different story. Dripping with charm and clad in only the finest attire, Asta is a gentleman monster, as polite as they come and committed to his role as security for the Dusklight and those who have earned his loyalty. Be careful of that smile, though - those teeth are sharp.
Congratulations, Asta!

Remi pulls in a breath and lets it out again in a sigh that has his lips tilting crookedly before he can help it. "Well," he says, feigning contemplation as his eyes flick toward the shifted table, then"back again to his husband, "surely Vi, of all the gods, would appreciate efficiency?" The boyish smirk that follows is perhaps not entirely convincing. "Two birds with one stone."
As Ronin turns his attention back to the stove, Remi ruffles a hand through his curls, trying to put the thought of Hak Etme in order alongside the little he knows. "I think Colt is trying to start things up there," he says after a moment, leaning back enough to glance toward the half-cooked breakfast. "When I was making her new saddle, she mentioned that her ranch had burned down." His nose wrinkles slightly, not at Colt herself but at the shape of it all: losing one place and trying to build another out in the desert, only for something that looked like it had crawled out of sleep itself to be waiting there.

"I'm sure he would appreciate it. I just don't know if he would entertain it," Ronin says with a grin over his shoulder, resuming his cooking of the bacon and cracking a few eggs into the pan as well once Sugar has determined that it's crispy enough by snapping little teeth at him. "But at least I can try to get as much information as I can about... whatever it was up there in the desert."
Scrunching his nose, as Remi brings up Colt, Ronin listens with quiet interest and begins to assemble their sandwiches, wrapping them in a paper napkin and tossing a couple of leftover rashers of bacon to his companion as he turns off the stove. "That's a shame," he says of the ranch burning down, brows furrowing. "...Hak Etme, though? That's a helluva trek up from King's End."

Remi chuckles at the clarification, shoulders lifting in a small shrug as he nods along. "Well, perhaps I can ask Mort about it, then." He does his best not to hover while Ronin finishes putting their breakfast together, though it becomes a more difficult promise to keep with every crack of egg and curl of bacon. His mouth has started watering despite himself, and when Sugar earns her share he only watches with the kind of long-suffering patience that suggests he is trying very hard to remember he is a grown man and not a dragon waiting for scraps.
At the mention of Colt’s ranch, he hums in agreement, the sound low in his throat. It is a shame. Even without knowing the whole story, there is something about being pushed out of a place by fire that tugs unpleasantly at old instincts. But as Ronin points out the distance, Remi only lifts his eyebrows in vague second-hand exasperation and gives another small shrug. "Maybe that was the point," he says. "Getting as far away from King’s End as is possible."
His mouth twists into a crooked grin as he glances toward his husband, one hand returning briefly to his curls. "I moved us to the top of the mountains to try and get away from things. Maybe this is Colt’s version of that."

"Teamwork," Ronin says with a wink, his hands now full with their breakfast sandwiches. And he wastes no time in solemnly delivering one into Remi's hands, because they've been together long enough now for him to recognise the Bastion's hungry-dragon look, and Sugar is a smug little shit who won't help matters either. Tugging off his apron and hustling about the houseboat to put on shoes and make sure his clothes are clean enough for god-visiting, he lingers by the counter to take a large bite of his sandwich (in case of any renegade egg yolk, you see).
"Mmf," he says in apparent agreement with his husband's analysis, pausing to chew and swallow before continuing. "You make a good point," he says. "Granted, I think we were the ones who were on fire when we went up to the Cordillera." It was no less necessary, but even so, he finds himself hoping that Colt won't also wake up to realise it was a phase of life rather than a permanent need to move.
"Anyway, c'mon. Stuff to do, gods to see."
