“So like, you’d give away information to them?” It’s an insinuation she didn’t want to make, but there regardless; friendly with an enemy could convey multitudes of things, and she had to wonder how much more she could say to him before something else occurred. It was bizarre to think she couldn’t trust her uncle, not after everything they’d been through, but a trail of trepidation down her spine regardless. It wasn’t something she could fight or beat away – and the bluntness coursed through her veins. “Spy for her?” She’d give it to Dahlia – it had been very clever to somehow infect a leader, and someone notorious for being active in multitudes of regions and communities.

Always there. Taking it in.

A long breath shuddered through her lungs. “It bothers a lot of other people, but congrats.” The existential dread, the overwhelming feeling of apprehension, dredging up old memories…that he didn’t have to hold any of that in his being did seem compelling, but not enough for her to be proud of him for the distinction. Her last muttering was into the décor in her hands, head down as she pondered over exactly what to do next. “Doesn’t sound like a great trade off to me.”

His nose wrinkles at the insinuation that he’d be handing information over to her — because that’s not even something on his radar. He hasn’t seen her for weeks, not since the leader meeting, and before that it was even longer. Nothing shared or said other than comfortable companionship.

He shrugs his shoulder as he hangs another decoration on the wall. “She isn’t Safrin.” He manages to grit out, the memory of Safrin utilizing him as such souring his mind. “I’m not a spy for her.” He answers honestly.

Sighing a little but glad to not have the arrows already shot into him, he straightens the decor he’s put up, looks over at her as the muscles feather in his jaw. “I was just explaining my side of it.” He’s well aware that the rest of Caido is uncomfortable, but he doesn’t have any doubt that if the rest of them fell into line like he had that it wouldn’t simply be just another day in Caido with its unique animals and occasional purple glow.

“But would you be, if she asked you?” A sincere and honest inquiry, and her steadfast, if a bit seditious, gaze lifted back up to his. If she were someone in Dahlia’s position, why wouldn’t she use those apparently under her…control? “Do you get a say in any of it?” Was he even aware?

Putting down the rest of the décor, because she’d long since lost the focus for it, she rubbed at her eyes, then her temples. She couldn’t help the suspicions layered against her frame, given how they’d all been in the past, and she was glad he was being honest with her, but gods if it didn’t complicate things that were already jumbled and confusing. Another question lingered in her ribcage, and without hesitation she pulled it out, so it segmented along her teeth. “Did you tell Ru?”
