"Well that isn't really for you to decide, now is it." Vesper hisses back, enraged by the thick plumes of steam he can feel erupting from the too-quickly turning gears in Niki's mind. It's a mind unlike anything he's ever seen before, and where he'd felt a brief flash of interest in learning more about what literally made Niki's mind tick, now Vesper only felt petulant hatred for something he didn't understand. #LoathingUnadulteredLoathing
Annoyed but not surprised by the refusal to take payment, the demigod merely sneers as tendrils of shadow slide across the table, gathering the coins and drawing them back into Vesper's pocket. "I hope you freeze and have to burn your cane for warmth." He spits in a low voice. No sooner have his shadows deposited the coins into his pocket than they slither back out again, unsteadying the end of the cripple's cane as Vesper stalks toward the door. Throwing his scarf haughtily around his neck before donning his jacket, the demigod doesn't bother to look over his shoulder as his shadows upset the nearby chairs, creating an obstacle course for Niki to make his way through before he can leave.
In a blink, literally, Vesper disappears. No, he couldn't teleport himself very far and realistically only made it just to the other side of the tea shop's door, but the demigod certainly wasn't above trying to not so subtly suggest that Niki had pissed off someone more powerful than he'd realized, if only to keep himself in the boy's mind a little longer.
