Character of the Season
Frail in body but dangerously quick of mind, Nikandr is the sort of character who proves that curiosity can be just as perilous as any weapon. A necromancer, inventor, and problem-solver with more ambition than self-preservation, Niki approaches the world like a puzzle box begging to be opened, even when what’s inside has teeth. Blunt, dry-witted, fiercely independent, and carrying a history best left partially buried, he has a knack for making even failure feel fascinating. Whether he’s raising the dead, moving across Caido to King's End, or experiencing a hangover for the first time, Nikandr brings a wonderfully strange spark to Caido, and we can’t wait to see what trouble his brilliant mind wanders into next.
Congratulations, Niki!

Sah
In light of the Tundra turning purple overnight, Sah had made the necessary preparations to go looking for one of Vi's Roses. He dreaded to think what might happen during LongNight if they didn't solve the matter immediately. The wolves are back at their temporary camp, having a well-earned nap after a successful hunt.
It leaves their bonded walking through the forest alone. Sah makes sure to scan the underbrush carefully with each step. The vital flowers have proven elusive to everyone as far as he knows. But they have to be here somewhere. Afterall, he's seen one here before.
Moving aside another shrub, Sah lets out a 'tsk'. Still nothing.

The paper detailed the movements of a certain hybrid who was known to have a certain necklace made of mageglass. While he was known to frequent Halo, that didn't mean there weren't hunting grounds that he seemed to favour in regions that would be a good deal more hospitable--
That's what Flora's note had detailed, and that's exactly what Danta had shared with Astaroth before they delve into the nitty gritty of finding said hybrid and hunting him down. A lot of this thieves' business seemed to be about stealth and patience and spying, which he doesn't appreciate, but then that's why he has the butcher, isn't it?
Anyway.
However they manage it, they do, and as Sah prowls through the Greatwood, he'll have the duo on his heels. Relying on Asta to do the tracking given his very helpful shift, Danta has glamoured his own racial features and has opted for a thick, dark coat with the hood drawn up, a scarf wrapped about his nose and mouth to hide his features.
His pace picks up as he spots the hybrid's back strolling through the snowy trees, until he's jogging, and then running. Aiming to shoulder check Sah hard enough to throw him off and bring Danta in front of him, he's silent and altogether ruthless in his movements.

Because Astarkth had spent a good deal of his life (and formulate years) doing exactly this. He was a scout back in Halo, a scout that had been very good at his job. Being Ancient made it a touch more difficult, especially given his shifts and the snow that surrounds the dark dredges of the Greatwood, but they’ve managed to silently trail up until he’s certain Sah is alone and the wolves that had accompanied him were no longer a potential threat.
It’s when he trades his disguised self into the fiery fyrhund. Steam picks up from the cracks in his volcanic plates, but he’s low enough to the ground it’s difficult to see amongst the sea of white when Danta picks up his pace. Asta’s quick on his heels, paws kicking up melting snow as he charges after. As Danta goes for the shoulder charge, the fyrhund’s mouth curls with smoke, the scent of ash and char as he launches up at Sah with the full intention of snatching the mage glass pendant from his neck in the jostling, hoping to snap it off the clasp holding it onto the hybrid.
Sah feels something or someone coming in close and twists just as his shoulder is brushed. A cloaked man stands in front of him and the hybrid is already stepping into a fighting stance. His magic surges beneath his skin, lighting flickering across his fingers. Baring his teeth, he's about to demand an explanation when another presence comes.
Twisting on instinct, the Wild Thunder sends an electrified fist straight towards at the fyrhund. It's as the volatile element surges that Sah realized that the creature was aiming for his neck. He also vaguely registers the sensation of the mageglass necklace snapping from the infernal hound's teeth snagging it in the process. "Who sent you?" The snarled words are sent in both of the attacker's directions as Sah lets lighting coat him entirely.
What in the hell were they after? Going for his neck like that. Did someone want him dead?

Listen, dead is such a strong word. If it happens and no one is around to see them eat the body, where's the harm? Anyway, given the lightning crackling around Sah's fist and the way he aims a punch to the butcher in his fyrhund form (Danta's teeth bare behind his scarf) he's quite keen to get out of here as quickly as they got in. Still, the snarled words from the hybrid do have him raising an eyebrow within the shadow of his hood, the Maverick gesturing something as close to er, what? as one can really get.
First time being robbed? he might have quipped were it not for the whole discrepancy thing with the Thieves' Guild. So instead, leaving Asta to snatch the necklace and be done with it, Danta lets flame roar up before them, sending a blast towards the other man to either dazzle or singe him (or maybe even both!)

Having no good ability to actually dodge anything in the middle of his jump, the fyrhund is forced to take the brunt of the fist that comes flying at him, crackling with all kinds of electric woes. But he feels the chain of the mageglass between his teeth and he clamps down harder to not lose the pendant portion as the first slams into his neck, cracking something within it — though he doesn’t have the time to register what exactly it was.
It’s a smoky snarl that leaves him as he lands, dropping into a low growl, and as Danta sends the fire he casts an orange glance toward the Maverick with the chain dangling from between his jaws as if a signal to go. It’s that split second that has him already starting to move away, notably a touch slower than he had been arriving, only because the punch fucking hurt.
But ah, at the end of the day, he’s had much worse. And with the prize in between his teeth, he’s ready to get the fuck out of here.

Sah
A wave of fire is sent his way without an answer to his question, and although Sah could send his own or even block it, he's already coated in lightning. Which makes it far easier to simply activate his strike ability. The hybrid vanishes in lighting, reappearing behind Dantalion and sending an electrified fist at the man's back, his anger activating overcharge.
He notes in the corner of his eye that the hound has his mageglass and Sah snarls. That's what this was about? "Seriously? You didn't bother to just go look for your own mageglass?" He lets out a scoff, "Pathetic." The Wild Thunder takes a step back, keeping his lightning up but not making any further moves to attack. "Get the fuck out of here."

Having to school himself not to so much as look at Asta twice - he'd heard the brutal crack of something and though every part of him wants to go to his fellow Ancient, there's still a part to play here. Clenching his gloved hand to draw the fire back in, he's just befuddled enough to realise that their mark is nowhere to be seen, only to suddenly feel his presence behind him.
The hairs on his arms stand on end beneath the coat, and the scent of ozone hangs heavily in the air. Luckily, whatever Danta was about to blurt out all but seizes in his chest at the strike to his back. He's sent staggering, feeling himself all but light up from within as the electricity courses through him, bringing him to his knees.
Glaring meaningfully to the fyrhund to tell him to fucking go, he at least has the audacity to toss a jaunty salute towards Sah before he also - clumsily and still reeling from the blow - makes his exit as well.
Danta OUT.

Twisting toward the snowy treeline, the fyrhund glows a menacing orange and red amongst the black plates — the one at his neck and back cracked and leaking magma as he suddenly sees Sah’s teleporting. Another snarl grows, loudly slipping past his lips still clutching the pendant, and the second he gets his feet about him he notices the glare from Danta.
And just like that, before the adrenaline can crash to show him what was broken, the butcher bolts back into the silent and cold forest, intending to vanish just as quickly as they’d arrived, certain that Danta would be on his heels until they have a chance to get way the fuck out of dodge.
Sah lets out a disbelieving laugh at the salute, barely resisting giving the cloaked man a shove. He'd have liked to figure out their identities, but he's seen enough of the man's face under the hood to get a start on the search. If there was one. He watches the duo leave, not being able to resist waving them off with a sarcastic, "Lighting burns take longer to heal. Good luck."
With them out of sight, the Wild Thunder lets out a long sigh. He's more furious about being robbed than the loss of the mageglass. Sah has been debating what to do with it for some time. He could have fought further and taken it back, but he has a feeling that he'd have had to kil the duo to do so.
Still, he'd needs to alert Deimos. Mageglass is a powerful tool and it's best to know who has it.
