Character of the Season
Frail in body but dangerously quick of mind, Nikandr is the sort of character who proves that curiosity can be just as perilous as any weapon. A necromancer, inventor, and problem-solver with more ambition than self-preservation, Niki approaches the world like a puzzle box begging to be opened, even when what’s inside has teeth. Blunt, dry-witted, fiercely independent, and carrying a history best left partially buried, he has a knack for making even failure feel fascinating. Whether he’s raising the dead, moving across Caido to King's End, or experiencing a hangover for the first time, Nikandr brings a wonderfully strange spark to Caido, and we can’t wait to see what trouble his brilliant mind wanders into next.
Congratulations, Niki!

“Ah, darling, I never make offers if I think they would be troubling to do.” Not unless there were some amount of ulterior motives. In which case… There wasn’t really with this, either, not yet at least. But if he can help the young necromancer master his skills, it would certainly be handy to have him as an ally rather than an enemy. And given that small amused smirk, he thinks perhaps they may be more alike than previously imagined.
As for the offer of helping him home, he nods and follows the young man’s gaze to the village, letting that bright grin flare a bit sharper and brighter in agreement. “Well, shall I accompany you there, then?” He asks, head tilting toward Niki as he begins to take a few steps toward the entrance, antlers cradled easily in his other hand that doesn’t hold the handle of his cane.
"In which case, I wish you the best of luck in looking for any materials about it," Niki says with a gentle nod towards the tall Ancient. He's heard that the Hollowed Grounds is old in a way that makes even the Greatwood seem relatively young and uninfomed, and so if anywhere is likely to have information about his unique sort of magic, it's likely to be the region previously trapped behind a barrier.
And so with that settled, Niki also heads back onto the path and into the village proper, nodding readily to the other man as he offers to join him at the teahouse. "You are quite welcome to," he says, gesturing towards the centre of the village where the majority of stalls and other businesses are set up. Asta will be able to spot the telltale sign hanging outside the shop from the teacup carved into it, and though the necromancer moves necessarily slowly, it doesn't take long for them to get there.
"I am afraid to say you may struggle a bit," he says, gesturing to Asta's height.

Inclining his horned head in agreement, Astaroth’s grin is still just as bright as the gears within his mind start working – focusing on what kind of information he may be able to recover in the Atheneum for abilities similar to Niki’s own. But, given that he isn’t there, he simply makes the markers of what to look for and files it away for later, content to wander alongside the young man toward the teahouse, matching the pace of the abandoned easily, uncaring how long it may take to get there.
Luckily for them both, though, it doesn’t take very long, and he peers at the door before he hears Niki’s comment, letting the low rumble of amusement slip past his throat as he nods. “It is not the first time.” He informs the younger man, his grin widening a touch before he’s bending quite a bit in order to duck under the awning and eaves, holding the door open for the younger man before he slips in after, content to warm up in the heat of a warm building and hot tea to soothe his old bones.
