He came near sunset to clean the lighthouse, dusting its ledges, sweeping the dirt from its floors and stairs, and polishing the glass of its windows so that the light within shone out clear and bright. The night was well advanced by the time he finished, stars twinkling overhead with the brilliant clarity that Deepfrost brought. He did not need to lay his armlet on the altar stone itself; any place on the island's shore would have sufficed. But Hadama appreciated the tradition and the ritual of his prayer, and he chose the location at the top of the tower with solemn deliberation to be closer to his lady's stars.
Of course, he had not brought just his armour. A box was placed on the altar beside it, crafted of ebony and polished to a high gloss. Tiny diamonds were inset in the lid, picking out the Deepfrost constellations above Torchline, and inside the compartments for rings and bracelets and pendants were lined in black velvet dusted with specks of silver. He knelt after placing it, resting his hands on his thighs and composing his mind to the calm clarity and anticipation of Safrin's light.
"It is done. And I am... working. On taking more time to rest." He had not forgotten her words to him at their last meeting. But there had been much to do in finishing the Stargate Key. In helping Calypso and Nova with their own quest. In coming to Halo's defense. In ensuring the crab migration went safely for all.
But there had also been time spent with young Noe gathering flowers in Hak Etme, and discovering the view at the Leap of Faith with Sohalia. And, soon, a quiet day of baking with Flora to look forward to - and perhaps a manicure in their future. His work continued, but it was not without time taken to rest. As his goddess had bade him.
