Character of the Season
Frail in body but dangerously quick of mind, Nikandr is the sort of character who proves that curiosity can be just as perilous as any weapon. A necromancer, inventor, and problem-solver with more ambition than self-preservation, Niki approaches the world like a puzzle box begging to be opened, even when what’s inside has teeth. Blunt, dry-witted, fiercely independent, and carrying a history best left partially buried, he has a knack for making even failure feel fascinating. Whether he’s raising the dead, moving across Caido to King's End, or experiencing a hangover for the first time, Nikandr brings a wonderfully strange spark to Caido, and we can’t wait to see what trouble his brilliant mind wanders into next.
Congratulations, Niki!

“Ah, right.” Asta responds, snorting as Danta takes a sip of the coffee and hides the smile he can very much see reflected in the beautiful blue of his gaze. He doesn’t comment further on it, content to let his lover believe he’s won that portion of the argument, without delving into the fact that he likely was the one to bend them whereas Asta was simply there to enforce them.
Some things he doesn’t have to do anymore, thankfully. At least, none that he didn’t already agree with – such as the very strict security he’s begun at the Dusklight.
Instead, he focuses on his dramatics, of turning to stone and being a handsome coat rack, drawling all of the airs of despair that might come of the thought when it’s his turn to hide his sharp smile behind his coffee. “Sure, darling. I promise that I will not even throw a rock at your head.” He touts at the memory – of crawling out of the cavern Danta had found him in not unlike a spider with his willowy, thread barren state, only to have the rock launched at him and shoved back in.
He's also joking, though, because he very much prefers the vibrant, breathing, snarky man he’s come to love more than he thought was possible.

"First of all, I did not throw a rock at your head - it was a boulder. And I didn't even throw it at your head, I was just... trying to bury you back where I'd found you." Grinning and hiding it behind another sip of coffee, Danta sets his cup down and wraps his hands around it to enjoy the warmth radiating out. "But that's still appreciated. I'm sure you've gotten me back for it since then anyway. Multiple times." If not as soon as he'd escaped the tomb the Maverick had been trying to trap him back inside.
Relaxing as they are able to hide within the warmth of the coffee shop while the snow continues to flurry outside and fall in thick sheets, Danta wrinkles his nose towards the window and takes another bite of his pastry. "I don't think that's going to stop any time soon," he remarks. "We might need to get going sooner rather than later if we want to make it home."

“Okay. A boulder to bury me back in after you had already kindly woke me up...” Of course, he doesn’t state the fact he had immediately gone on the aggressive the second air filled his lungs again. But, alas, he knows better now. They both do. And my, how far they’ve come. “Mm, I would say so, darling.” It’s said with a tinge of sadness he buries away quickly — in lieu of the coffee and the softer smile that blooms on his face.
Glancing out the window when Danta mentions the snow, it’s with a small tug of a frown that he nods. “I could make a parasol of fire, perhaps?” So that maybe it would be rain that fell on them rather than snow, and it could keep the upper half of them warm enough with the coffees to get back to the Dusklight unhindered.
Already the butcher’s shifting toward the edge of the seat, standing and snagging the coffee to drain the last bit of it, tail flicking contently with the caffeine buzz it provides. “Do you promise to protect me if the luxere man finds us?” He asks in a low voice, a playful smirk on his face as he offers his arm out for Danta.

Bouncing his eyebrows at Asta as if to say they are in agreement, at least, about boulder throwing and any associated revenge, Danta quickly finishes his croissant and his coffee and rises to his feet alongside the butcher.
"A parasol of fire?" he echoes, dusting the crumbs from his clothes and reaching out for his scarf and gloves. "How very graceful sounding." Grinning and shrugging his shoulders as if to leave the decision up to the other man, he pulls on his coat and turns the collar up before huddling close, slipping his arm through Asta's.
Only to snort into his scarf at his playful question, already tugging them towards the door and raising a hand in a wave to the barista. "You have my word," he promises. "Though I can't say I won't ogle your horns myself for good measure. Come on, let's be quick." And with that, he leads them out into the snowstorm so they might hurry home well before the cold turns their fingers to stone.
