"I have not been easy to reach lately." He did not dismiss Zavien's apology, but he accepted it with the quiet assurance that it was unnecessary. Sometimes friends were the hardest ones to tell about such things, and Hadama was aware that his positions as both a King and a demigod did not make it easier. And, in truth, he had been exceptionally busy in Flowerbirth, between the first descent into Starfall, curing his co-ruler of Void infection, and racing to see Haulani protected from the Family, among other things.

Which was why he asked for help now, instead of trying to take even more onto his own shoulders.

The Dragoon's acceptance, swift even in the face of his fears, drew a bow of gratitude from the Tidebreaker - a small one this time, knowing how uncomfortable the displays made his friend. "Thank you, Zavien. I am in your debt." There was more he wished to say, but he did not know the words to reassure his friend without risking insult by accident. So instead he straightened and reached out to offer his arm in a warrior's clasp. "And I will do what I can to repay it when you call."

You can’t stop the change,
any more than you can stop the suns from setting.
Nodding his head, he couldn't deny that the man had been busy. It had taken weeks to finally get the Rose to him, but he didn't blame him. He hadn't the faintest idea what kind of responsibilities he must have. "I'm sure that comes with the territory of being a good leader." And that's what Hadama ultimately was: a good leader.

Zavien took the clasp of Hadama's wrist, his expression softening as he said, "There are no debts between friends." The intensity of his gaze was as bright green as the leaves reflected in the pools, a hope and sincerity there that few could rival. Because, despite everything that had transpired, Zavien still had impeccable trust in those around him and he would always fight to stand at their sides.
