The Forsaken

It didn’t seem to matter what the party decided. The wyrm had its own plans. Rocks came tumbling down, dust and debris filled the air, and Noah coughed with both pain and clogged lungs. The dark black dust left his mouth feeling gritty with dirt and he groaned, head throbbing from what he could only imagine was a notably sized rock smashing against him. With squinted, partially shifted eyes, it was still hard to see.

But there was no arguing. Noah had spoken. Jack was gone. The luring didn’t work. They needed to move.

With the decision made, Noah worked with haste. He took the rose from Hadama and partially shifted his arm and hand. With a griffin limb (which was feline, as his front limbs were in that form), Noah began to dig as fast as he could. Just enough to get the rose in. Then he took the rose from its safety compartment and placed it in the hole, covering roots back up with the void dirt. All the while he prayed and prayed, willing Vi to cast himself upon this rose and this damned piece of void rock. 



Noah partially shifts his arm and hand to that of his griffin form (feline part) to dig and then he plants the rose!

Sah

Sah wasn't surprised when his bait failed. He'd been expecting it, but it had seemed worth the attempt Not now. Not when the tunnel suddenly collapsed around them. "Fuck!" Even before Hadama spoke, the Wild Thunder was reaching for his magic. He wouldn't let his allies or the rose be crushed.

The hybrid pulled at the earth around them, each crumbled and fallen piece. Latching onto as much as he could, Sah started to place the dirt and stone back where it was. Almost like completing a jigsaw puzzle, he focused on putting the different parts of the tunnel back together. He worked meticulously, and as fast as he dared.

Sah uses his earth magic to rebuild/repair/stabilize the tunnel. He pulls as much of the fallen earth around them as he can and tries to put it back where it was previously (the walls, ceiling, floor, etc.)  He is still partially shifted. Armor cooldown 1/2.

The Mirewyrm struck again.

The impact shook the world around them—harder, more desperate than before. The stone wailed, seams shrieking as pressure built and tried to collapse inward, but Sah was ready.

His hands gripped the earth—not physically, but with magic that moved like instinct. Voidrock, soil, shattered debris—he seized it all and held. Each piece of stone found its partner, each crack was mended. He stitched the tunnel back together with the tenacity of someone who refused to let their story end here.

And this time, nothing fell.

In the tremor’s wake, Hadama rose from where he had steadied himself. The light of his trident swirled like stars caught in a current, and with a slow breath he called on the moon once more. The healing mist spread over them—cool, silvery, gentle. Cuts sealed. Bruises faded. The ache of battle eased, if only slightly.

Noah worked quickly. The rose, cupped in his hands like the last true hope of Caido, shimmered faintly against the dark. He carved into the softened earth with his partially shifted paw, clearing a space amid the ruin. With hands that had once held a bow, once burned with Vi’s fire, now steady and dust-covered, he lowered the flower into the ground.

Its roots met the tainted soil—and held. There wasno glow. Not yet. But it was planted. All that remained was to water it—to give the Rose the nourishment it needed to take hold. And then they could leave.

Mirewyrm (Rare):  The Mirewyrm is a colossal void entity, vaguely serpentine and dragonlike, that tunnels through stone as though the rock were liquid. Its body is plated in black, semi-metallic scales that shimmer with deep-space reflections, constantly shifting and rearranging like something unfinished. It has no eyes, and its mouth opens sideways in a jagged, spiral maw—a gateway rather than a mouth, lined not with teeth, but with coiling tendrils of voidlight and gravity.

Webvex (Rare): A massive, void-corrupted spider that stalks The Crush, the Webvex is an ethereal predator capable of phasing in and out of reality. Its translucent, oil-slick body pulses with alien constellations, and its many limbs jitter with unnatural, twitching grace. Where a face should be is a single, spiralling maw that consumes sound, memory, and reason. It spins crystalline void-webs that cling to magic, thought, and flesh alike.

He could not heal all of the damage the Mirewyrm's thrashing had inflicted on them, but he could soothe some of it. Ease the bruises, the gashes, mend the cracked bones. Hadama breathed deeply within his mask, straightening as Sah held the tunnel whole once more. Held his trident and its shimmering light steady as the rumbling subsided without further wounds being inflicted on them.

And turned to look upon where Noah knelt with his god's Rose. It lacked one thing from their previous planting. Something that Sunjata had provided. Something that Hadama could provide if he shifted... but there was no need for that in the small tunnel. Not when he could see a waterskin at Sah's hip. "Your pardon," he rumbled to both men, courteous even in the claustrophobic belly of an inimical island bent on their destruction, bloody and battered from the ongoing battle.

Leaning over Noah's kneeling form to reach for Sah's hip, he unhooked the waterskin from the hunter's belt. Then he joined his fellow demigod on the ground, kneeling to pour the water carefully around the now-covered roots of the Rose in its new home.

"Do not relent," he rumbled to the Wild Thunder. They were so very close. They could not risk a falling rock crushing the Rose now.


Hadama Canadians his way over Noah's head to take the waterskin from Sah's waist, then uses it to water the Rose. He tells Sah to continue holding the tunnel steady in the final stretch!

The Forsaken

Noah knelt beside the rose, breath tight in his chest. He watched the rose, afraid to leave his protective stance over it. No glow. No surge of cleansing light—just the sound of earth scraping against itself as Sah held it steady, of Hadama preparing what he needed. The roots had taken, and that was something. Vi, Let this work. Let your power move through it. He prayed, as if that might anchor it more firmly, shield it from the wyrm and the darkness that still lingered beneath, beside, above.

His hands hovered a moment longer as Hadama reached over him, dirt clinging to his skin. As soon as this is conquered, we’re all out of here. To the fountain. He looked to the men, I have my compass, in his pocket, heavy and ready to use, and Hadama has his magic. Noah knew that they all could be out of here in an instant, and that gave him confidence for the end of their mission — once the rose cleansed and drove away the wyrm, they needed to be gone. To regroup. To gather more roses or lilies and heal damages before coming back, ready to kill. 



Noah says as soon as the area is cleansed to teleport out to the fountain at the Court of Stars, and prepares to use his compass if the rose is successful!

Sah

The tunnel was repaired, and the flower was in the ground, but they weren't done yet. The wyrm was sure to be enraged by this development and Sah needed to focus. As Hadama moved to take the waterskin, the hybrid nodded sharply in approval of their plan. He didn't comment, too immersed in his task. He was mildly pleased to see that his habit of always bringing food and water on quests was proving useful in some manner.

Still holding onto his magic, the Wild Thunder pulled earth from the end of the tunnel and used it to fill in any gaps or cracks that the wyrm's rage inflicted upon the structure. They were so close. They couldn't fail now.

The water spilled over the roots in slow, deliberate arcs—cool, clear, unassuming.

For a breathless moment, there was nothing.

Then the rose stirred.

Its petals, dusty and dulled from their travel through shadow, began to tremble. One by one, they lifted—curling open like fingers outstretched to catch the light. A glow bloomed from within, soft and golden, like sunlight diffused through morning fog. The light spread across the ground, through the cracks in the stone, unfurling in pulses that moved like heartbeats.

Warmth spilled through the tunnel.

It didn’t burn. It soothed. The corrupted soil beneath the flower turned rich and dark, and the walls around them no longer groaned with the strain of the Mirewyrm's rage. That cosmic leviathan below recoiled—its pressure slipping away like a hand withdrawn from a flame.

Somewhere far beneath them, deep in the pulsing bowels of the island, the Mirewyrm fled. Banished from its perch in the Descent, forced even lower by the rose’s unfurling light, it twisted through the dark, scarred and seething. Waiting. Watching. But it could not remain here—not now.

Above, in the narrow space held firm by Sah’s will, the Rose stood firm.

Alive. Rooted. Purifying. It was done.

There was no flourish, no grand spectacle—just the steady, enduring power of something good taking root in something foul. And with the final wave of warmth cascading outward, the danger receded.

Hadama’s hand gripped his trident. Noah’s compass hummed in his coat. Sah’s magic trembled with the weight of what had just been held together. But the time for holding had passed.

It was time to go.

And with one last glance at the Rose—its light pulsing like a star in the dark—the three men vanished.

Moonlight. Compass. Magic.

They were gone.
The Crush was quiet.
And the island, for now, held.
