Character of the Season
Frail in body but dangerously quick of mind, Nikandr is the sort of character who proves that curiosity can be just as perilous as any weapon. A necromancer, inventor, and problem-solver with more ambition than self-preservation, Niki approaches the world like a puzzle box begging to be opened, even when what’s inside has teeth. Blunt, dry-witted, fiercely independent, and carrying a history best left partially buried, he has a knack for making even failure feel fascinating. Whether he’s raising the dead, moving across Caido to King's End, or experiencing a hangover for the first time, Nikandr brings a wonderfully strange spark to Caido, and we can’t wait to see what trouble his brilliant mind wanders into next.
Congratulations, Niki!

what tried to destroy you didn't have the strength
Being chased by heads wasn’t something he could say he’d experienced recently – and while it was wildly funny in this circumstance, he really did try to smother down the reel of laughter threatening through his chest again. Taking another deep breath, he funneled the seriousness back into the midst, eyes narrowing again as he glanced back to see what had occurred; watching as the others fanned out the assault.
Sunjata’s balance needed some improvement; the bulk and amount of craniums might’ve required an adjustment. There was something to be said for either too many skulls bounding about, or having not enough to balance everything out – but Deimos wasn’t exactly keen to try on deciphering exactly how many that would be on this current escapade. “All right, how far can they stretch on the side?” He thew out loud, before maneuvering and flying over towards Sunjata’s left, intending to coax another airy barrage and see exactly that – the reach and pull of the might.

It’s good practice - both for Sunjata and for Deimos, to be greeted with something that was so like Caido to throw at them that the Flood can’t help but to throw his all into it. Most trainings he tended to practice a bit weaker, not wanting to take out anyone that might otherwise not withstand his attacks, but with Deimos? It was easier, he could actually fight and get hit in return - if the head laying on the beach wasn’t any current indicator.
His balance is off even as he spreads his legs to try and balance him further, and when Deimos zooms up to fly to his left with the request of seeing how far they can stretch on the side, the Flood’s four heads start swinging toward Deimos - stretching out to the point that he’s almost left toppling himself, planting his feet in hard as one head clips the air while the rest flounder before pelting Sunjata’s shoulder in this shift. The two that missed snap their disapproval, even if Sunjata laughs a muted sound through the attuned bond at the result. Not far without falling over, seems like.

Snorting, he turned back briefly on his quick and swift flight to watch everything take place – the heads, all teetering towards him, seemed to through the rest of Sunjata’s bulk around. Can you control them individually? was an inquiry he never thought he’d have to ask, but there they were, testing the limitations of a four-headed hydra. Because if you can evenly distribute them, maybe you could chase after multiple targets too. Though he couldn’t imagine what the organization one would have to go through to keep all of it together.
He flew upwards, pondering the situation, before gathering portions of the sand below, utilizing the air to not only make them hover, but also launch into manifested portions of something to assault and siege upon. He sent them in opposing directions, mainly to see what would happen – taking on a more experimental and plotting sanction than he’d originally planned.

Yes. Comes Sunjata’s immediate answer, pausing to hear the line of thought that the Flood’s already been considering - wondering how it might work. If he left one for defense while the other two launched at separate targets, perhaps they’d manage to gain an advantage in the future. Especially if he can get them to cut off portions to make even more. But the addition of this singular head making the total just four was rather dizzying, so it takes an extra second for Sunjata to regain his thoughts and abilities. I think I can.
Watching with four sets of eyes as Deimos soars toward the sky, he notices the sand a few moments later, spread out in varying distances. Each head finds its own target, large jaws parting to snap at the shimmering sand swirling in each individual target.

He watched again as Sunjata seemed to sort the heads out – snapping at the sand and disintegrating the particles into nothing but air and grains. Does it take a while to sort through them? The minds as a collective whole might be quick, but to each arrange their own separate movements must’ve been some sort of challenging aspect.
Making the next set larger, encompassing the Mastered Air components around more sand, more dunes, he also spread them out further – intending to instill a difficult range for himself to contort with all four granules and motions within the incantations, and for Sunjata, to see how far the Flood could go. Might as well know their limitations well before they ever had to use these components.

A little. He answers honestly as the heads continue to move, stretching and reaching with open jaws to land their assaults on the sand air creatures. When they fall apart into nothing and Sunjata returns to his usual state, it gives him a moment of collection, getting each separate vision back into the whole before the dunes are created again, larger and more spread out this time.
Its multiple view points and I have to consciously send each one out. He says in case it helps, before the heads are descending again - stretching out a touch too far when he decides he has to give up his positioning to snag one half of them, the others recoiling in a defensive manner just in case. It was practice, wasn’t it?

Deimos considered the situation quietly, mulling it over from his vantage point. The hydra shift presented quite a few options, and benefits, when it came to the potential mauling and repercussions of such an action – but then there were the drawbacks of control as well. Perhaps it wouldn’t much matter in the interim and battlefields, when mere impulses would likely govern multitudes, but it was worth the trial and error of their current session to figure out how to best devise, divide, and conquer.
Once the sand measures had been decimated once more, the Sword hovered overhead, head tilting. Is there anything else you want to try? They’d snagged at a wealth of information, but he didn’t know how the Flood was faring in all of it, nor if he was willing to strive for other pursuits, or felt that’d been more than enough for the day.

It was a lot to take in, but Sunjata thinks he’s done a pretty decent job at it right now. He’d figured out what the shift did – the additional head dizzying but useful to know what to expect when it came down to using it in battle. At least he could be prepared just in case it occurred, or he had to use it. And for that, the Flood is very grateful for this training session, even as the sun continues to beat down onto them sharply.
The sand vanishes as the teeth of his shift reach them, two remaining back for protection so that he doesn’t have to reach so far, and it’s about that time that Sunjata hears Deimos’ question – angling all four heads to blink at Deimos with a pulse of amusement and gratitude through the attuned bond toward him. That’s all I wanted to practice. You get what you needed? He asks, remaining in this unique shift just in case Deimos needed to try anything else.

With the motions solidified, and a good chunk of education and learning on multiple ends, Deimos nodded, slowly lowering himself to the ground and putting the wings away; as if they’d never been there at all. I did, thank you. Continuing to make no comment about the way they’d worked together recently – the Sword would be content in not acknowledging the forced allies concept at all – his focus went back to the constant persistence, before they ended up departing. I will let you know if I hear of anything else. In regards to Starfall and the ongoing plot, to which his glance slid towards the nasty, vile place in the distance, and then they could depart – each with some newfound sagacity lacquered and layered within.
