What do you get when two ruthless assassins raise their daughter travelling through the wildest reaches of Caido? Take one look at Theea and you'll get a pretty good idea. Cheerful and tenacious in equal measure, and curious beyond all else, she began her journey on a mission to find those her mother once called family. And find them she did, soon rubbing elbows with demigods, leaders and even ghosts from the past. Her determination is resolute, her thirst for knowledge unmatched. We can't wait to see where her next adventure takes her!

The search for a rose in the Greatwood was, in Alys's opinion, hopeless. She'd hunted for days on end without seeing even the slightest hint of crimson or gold, and then she'd been forced to retire back to King's End to see to her duties there. Meanwhile, Tal was still out there somewhere, infected and in the Family's clutches, without even the Peregrine to keep him company. What must he be thinking now? That she'd taken his ship and run off without him?
Alys huffed out a frustrated sigh as she stepped into Frey's Breath. Hopefully her partner would forgive her when she cured him.
If she cured him. Which, if her hunt was any indication, was starting to look less and less likely.
But today, at least she could relax as she searched for flowers. She'd left behind her rose hunt to begin a quest for a lily, and though she didn't expect to have better luck, she hoped. And maybe, just maybe, that hope would be enough.

Sensing that Alys was very much distracted by her own thoughts, Elizabeth took it upon herself to move ahead. She carried the bundle of towels and hydration and snacks and reading materials to secure a place amongst the steaming pools of water. The heat was almost stifling, sweat already slick beneath her thin cream bathing suit cover. Luckily, she'd had the mind to put her hair up beforehand, but the nape of her neck was already damp.
When she felt a gentle rush of air, she paused in her tracks, a small smile on her lips as she turned to her friend. "Alys, why don't we sit here? There's a nice breeze." It wouldn't be enough to cool them, but at least it would be a nice relief from the sticky heat of the springs.
Setting out the various supplies, she slipped out of her cover to reveal her pink bikini beneath, dipping her toes tenderly into the water before stepping in with a soft groan. The water rippled around her as she situated against the side, looking up at Alys when she rested her head on her propped hands. "Come on in. We can wade through the water for a bit while we look then come back here." Hopefully with a lily in tow.

Alys had been so wrapped up in her own thoughts that looking for a breeze hadn't even occurred to her, but as Elizabeth pointed one out, the seer shook off her mood and smiled. "That feels lovely," she said, calling upon her air magic to coax a bit more of the air to flow around them. The movement was a nice change from the stifling heat that had accompanied them thus far on their trip.
The seer began to unbutton the sleeveless shirt-dress she'd worn as a cover-up, revealing a midnight blue swimsuit beneath. She folded it carefully before wading into the water alongside her friend. "That sounds like a plan," she agreed. Then: "I'm sorry I've been so quiet. I appreciate you coming with me, even if I'm not good company just now."

Elizabeth smiled at the breeze, letting her eyes flutter shut and a small groan slip past. "That feels so good. I don't know how people withstand the heat in here for very long without magic." Or, honestly, how people did life without magic. Especially as she moved her things farther away from the water's edge with her telekinesis. It was just so easy.
However, as her friend joined her in the warm water, Elizabeth was focused more on the magic of words, a gentleness easing her features as she said, "Don't worry about it. We can't always be bubbly and social." Even if that was her personal default. Still, she would adjust however Alys needed, offering another warm smile of understanding in the meantime. "Just let me know if you'd rather talk or enjoy peaceful silence. I'm more than capable of both." For now, she let her eyes roam the water's edge, quietly wondering if they might be so lucky as to find the rare flower.

Magic was indeed a blessing - strangely enough, given that so many in Caido viewed it as a curse. For Alys's part, she had always appreciated her abilities. It had been a point of contention for many years between herself and the gods, and it was only recently that she had begun to forgive Caido's deities for the perceived slight.
Silence stretched between the two for a few moments before Alys rallied. Forcing a smile, she began to wade through the waist-deep water, hunting for any sign of a lily. "So - how have you been? How's business going?" she asked, hoping that all was well for Elizabeth, or at least better than they were for the seer. Not that things were all bad for Alys - but they could certainly be better, these days.

Her eyes trailed the water as the silence stretched on, content to let her mind wander as she searched for the illusive flower. She only looked away when Alys spoke again, breaking the trance she'd waded into. A small smile appeared as she gave a shrug of her shoulders. "I've been good. Busy, but good." Honestly, there hadn't been much excitement in her life for some time. She lived through others and their stories, but the question made her wonder if she should be doing more 'living' of her own.
Recalling the party and the chaos that had transpired, her voice softened, gentle as she asked, "And what about you? How are you handling things?" She hadn't heard any news of Tal, and although they may not have always gotten along, she cared about Alys and wanted the best for them both.

Elizabeth's answer was vague enough that Alys glanced her way, pausing as she waded through the shallows to consider her friend thoughtfully. Her voice gave nothing away, but her emotions were another matter - there was a wistfulness there that Alys couldn't remember having sensed before, as though perhaps Elizabeth felt that she was missing something, somehow. Still, she couldn't force her friend to share more, and the conversation quickly turned back to Alys. It seemed that the therapist was more comfortable drawing out Alys's feeilngs than discussing her own.
"I'm alright," she said, turning her gaze back to the water and continuing on in search of the elusive lilies. "I... haven't seen Tal since the party," she admitted quietly, pain evident in the way her mouth turned down at the edges. "But Sunjata asked me to be King's End's Seer, so I'm finding ways to fill the time. When I'm not hunting flowers, anyway." As always in life, there was good and bad to be found.

It wasn't necessarily 'discontentment' with her life, but a quiet wondering of whether she should be doing more. She spent so much time working and helping others that she hadn't done much for her. Elizabeth couldn't remember the last time she'd gone on a date, and although she'd never consider reading as a waste of time, it felt like she could be doing something. Maybe it was just the repetitiveness of day-to-day life giving it a stagnant feel. There wasn't any need to rush change, but it was something she might ponder later in the silent space before sleep.
Although she kept her gaze primarily on the water, she looked occasionally to Alys, taking in the nonverbal as much as the verbal. She noted the tension and the tenderness, the struggles she spoke of weighing heavily on the seer. Offering a sympathetic tone, she slowed her movements to give the emotions the space they deserved. "That can't be easy." Elizabeth tilted her head, asking softly, "Where do you find the energy to do so much?" It's a subtle question of 'Are you taking care of you in all this?'

Elizabeth was someone who seemed to find focusing on others to be an integral part of her being, and most of the time, Alys appreciated that. It was only when her friend asked the hard questions that the seer began to wonder if the therapist ever tired of her chosen profession. She glanced at Elizabeth sidelong as they waded through the water. "No, I suppose it's not," she admitted after a brief moment of thought. "But it's easier than having nothing to do other than think of worst case scenarios." As she tended to do at night, when she was trying to fall asleep.
Shaking her head as she came up empty once again on her flower hunt, the seer gestured back towards their things. "I suppose I'm doing my best to relax when I can - like now, for example. I don't see a lily. Do you want to head back?"

Elizabeth would probably only tire of her job when she was dead and too exhausted to hear another repetition of the same struggles. Since that wasn't coming anytime soon, she continued to listen attentively to Alys's words, nodding her head. "I imagine it is." To find solace in the actions rather than wallowing in the helplessness.
Her smile warmed at the mention of relaxation, pleased to hear the seer was keeping it in mind as she suggested they conclude their search. "Sure. We'll come back and look another time, but for now, I have a really good book I think you'll like." Then she led the way back to their spot, speaking softly about things other than the worries plague the women and drifting into silence to enjoy the relaxing heat of the hot springs.
