Character of the Season
Frail in body but dangerously quick of mind, Nikandr is the sort of character who proves that curiosity can be just as perilous as any weapon. A necromancer, inventor, and problem-solver with more ambition than self-preservation, Niki approaches the world like a puzzle box begging to be opened, even when what’s inside has teeth. Blunt, dry-witted, fiercely independent, and carrying a history best left partially buried, he has a knack for making even failure feel fascinating. Whether he’s raising the dead, moving across Caido to King's End, or experiencing a hangover for the first time, Nikandr brings a wonderfully strange spark to Caido, and we can’t wait to see what trouble his brilliant mind wanders into next.
Congratulations, Niki!

Taking another swig of water, she settled it on the ground between them for easy access. "Absolutely I do" she replied. "Anyone can, with enough persistence, and you have a good foundation. Why, are you interested?" With a soldier brother Maea expected either fierce interest or rebellious disdain for the kind of dedication it took to reach a certain level. Keeping fit for aesthetics was one thing, and ensuring that any muscle gained was functional another thing entirely.
"Depending on what you want to be able to do, there's a lot of different ways to train. It doesn't have to be boxing or jogging every morning." Taking the chance to stretch, Maea shifted her weight between her legs in search of tender spots. The kind of slow, core building exercises she preferred were pulled more from dance and martial arts than traditional training, and something she'd likely keep up even if she never stood on a battlefield again.
Best believe I'm still bejeweled When I walk in the room, I can still make the whole place shimmer
Noe had never really considered combat as an option. It wasn't that she looked upon it with disdain - it had its place, after all - but it wasn't something she'd been interested in. She often wondered if she'd disappointed her mother when she'd chosen a different path, but she never would have been happy as a soldier. But there was something to be said for having solid self-defense abilities, and especially after having been infected, Noe was determined never to be helpless again.
"Well, if I'm going to be traveling alone, I should be prepared, right?" she asked, stretching her arms over her head. "Mostly I guess I just want to be able to defend myself. Just in case." She didn't say in case of what. Surely Maea was creative enough to be able to imagine all kinds of trouble that a lone woman could get into on the road - especially one as small and weak looking as Noe.
And when I meet the band, they ask, "Do you have a man?" I can still say, "I don't remember"

Feel free to use force/magic on Noe.
Maea nodded, accepting the reasoning with solid approval. She'd experienced her fair share of trouble during her years on the road, if perhaps not as often as others may have, thanks to her abilities. Being able to run from trouble, and the skill to stand her ground when necessary had both served to keep her alive, something she very much wanted for Noe.
"True enough. If you should like to I'd be happy to help you train," she offered, pleased to have an excuse to keep in contact with the young woman. Maea found that she enjoyed her company, the easy flow of their conversation; as someone who had always struggled to make close friends, the opportunity to form new connections was much cherished.
Content to chat away as they stretched and cooled off, she cast a final look about the Nest before they called it a day. Perhaps some other time she could come back with Liam; let him show her around properly, and tell her about the life he used to live. It was something to look forward to.
