// there's shadows on the walls //
By the time the lanterns start to go out, Danta has made himself thoroughly comfortable at the base of the gnarled tree where he and Astaroth have decided to set up camp, accepting bites of crackers and meat and cheese from the butcher - and flashing a sharp smile and a wave right back at Thalassa as he spots her. He's just in the process of topping up their glasses with cider when he notces the dragon lantern all alone in the proceedings, and then Isla's delighted smile and Edrei's one-in-a-million entrance.

"Well, shit," he murmurs, nosing into the sharp curve of Asta's jaw. "Didn't realise our doctor kept such interesting friends." With such excellent tits and such interesting bulges in their pants. Alas, it's absolutely not the right time or place for him to go and say hello, so he settles back once more to relax and enjoy the rest of the festival, more than content with his current company.

// standing, stomping in the damage and the ruins of a slip of tongue //
Glancing through the crowd – as Asta does more often this season than other seasons – the butcher spies Thalassa as she arrives, her sharp grin aimed at the both of them which receives one in return. His shark tooth smile a bit easier with the content that she’s greeted both of them. But when the lanterns dim, Astaroth is taking a long slow sip of his freshly refilled glass, arm tightening around Danta’s shoulders as he spots Isla get chosen.

He takes the moment to take Edrei in from this distance and he is quietly grateful for the way Danta noses his way into his jaw as his arm tightens around him and he tilts his head to press a soft kiss to his temple. “Mm, well, she is friends with me.” He murmurs, as if it weren’t too far of a fetch to believe Isla capable of being friends with a multitude of types if she was friends with a cannibal.

No matter the solemnity of the occasion, Hadama always seemed to find time to sample the offerings of food and drink. It could no longer be called 'professional' interest. Not technically. He still owned the Tidepool Bar, but it was largely in name only; others managed its day-to-day business now. He cooked, yes, but the food he made was for family and friends only these days, no longer selling his services as a chef.

Being a king and a demigod left little time for it.

Still, he poured himself a cup of spiced cider and selected a small pastry of pumpkin and sweet cream cheese to nibble and contemplate the ingredients of as he finally looked out over the gathering. It was darker now, with so many lanterns extinguished, but the light of the moon and stars were a welcome balm upon the meadow of Mourn, softening the edges of grief and disappointment. There was little to keep him there with his lanterns gone dark, but he found himself in no hurry to leave.

There was value in allowing himself space to grieve, and comfort in doing so among friends, even if those friends remained at a distance. For all those that he had lost, he was nevertheless not alone. And the yearly gathering at the end of Leafchange was a welcome reminder of that.

I wanna be touched, be loved
Maybe.” Caly murmurs, flashing her sister a warm smile at odds with the little war she feels in her chest, purposefully avoiding looking at those that are in attendance in case she’s forced to see Flora and Kaisel around. So instead, she focuses on keeping quiet and watchful, lingering with her sister and brother so that she doesn’t have to interact with anyone else.

At least, so she thinks. Vesper’s comment brings a soft laugh to her lips, a bubbled chime leaving her. She pauses as Maea arrives, flashing her an easy smile as Nova introduces them. “Hi.” She says softly, not entirely in the mood to greet a variety of people and learn all about them. So instead, she dips her head in greeting before they’re moving on again.

Then, the lantern is chosen, and Caly glances over to see who was picked and immediately loses interest, her attention flitting back over to Vesper and Nova as she trails after them for the table laden with food.
