Soh winced at Flora's particularly apt description of what had happened with Zavien. While she didn't want to think that her Commander could put his foot in his mouth quite that badly, she also had to admit that it was possible. Hadn't he expressed some sentiments at some point about not being diplomatic enough to lead? And hadn't she assured him that she'd be there to help?

And where had she been during all this?

Not helping, that was for damn sure.

Pushing away the persistent feeling that she could have prevented this if she'd been more active, she blew a puff of air through her lips. "I'm sorry," she told her friend. "I should have been there to advise him. That's my whole job, you know?" She smiled wryly, shaking her head. "I'll try to Ambassador better in the future."

Wrinkling her nose, Soh shoved the official business to the back of her mind. "Anyway, don't you and I have a quest to plan? Something fun and not at all serious, if I remember correctly?"

Flora shrugs, curls bouncing as she lets out a soft sigh. "It’s fine," she says easily, though her tone carries the faintest edge of disappointment. "Still kinda weird, though, neither Kai nor I have heard from him since. And Torchline still has soldiers helping in Stormbreak, so you’d think there’d be something." Her aqua eyes widen, unsurprised that a man would mess something like this up.

She bumps Soh’s shoulder lightly, the grin returning full force. "But yes, absolutely we do," she says, stretching her legs out in front of her and tipping her head back to stare at the shifting clouds overhead. After a thoughtful pause, she gasps softly. "Okay, what about magical closets that are connected, so we can share clothes?" Her eyes gleam at the idea before another thought strikes. "Or—oh! Kai gave me this enchanted parchment that lets you hear the other person’s voice through it. Maybe we could add that to ours? You could literally whisper ‘try the blue dress’ into my ear while I’m getting ready." She beams, delighted. "Practical and fabulous."

Soh wanted to cry at the situation in which she'd found herself, frustrated beyond belief that she'd handed over the reins of Stormbreak and left Zavien in charge when he'd managed to piss off arguably the most powerful region in Caido - who, by the way, they would have excellent relations with if she were in charge. But she couldn't go back and change the past - she could only fix things going forward, which inevitably meant going home for the first time in weeks.

But for now, she let the topic drop, forcing her frustrations aside to focus on fun instead. "Oh my gods, Kai did what?" she squealed, impressed in spite of herself. "Could we make it show pictures too??" she wondered, suddenly bouncing with excitement. "Like, okay - can you imagine me being like, babe I need wardrobe advice, which looks better? and sending along actual images?"

Flora beams, the kind of radiant smile that lights her from the inside out, eyes sparkling as she nods enthusiastically. "It was literally the best thing ever," she says, already halfway lost in the possibilities. "And yeah, that absolutely sounds doable." At Soh’s example, something in Flora clicks into place so decisively it’s almost audible. She’s on her feet in one smooth motion, excitement carrying her forward as she turns and offers both hands to her best friend, curls bouncing as she grins. "Perfect," she declares, utterly delighted. [psay]"It’s decided."

Then, with a mischievous glint in her eyes and a laugh that dares Soh to argue, she adds, "But before we go anywhere near a shrine, you owe me a flight."
