Soh giggled, wondering who would have won the very fictional argument, tempted to insist that she'd have slept on the floor before taking his bed. But in the end, she couldn't be bothered. It was a scenario that would never come to pass, and she was more than happy to let him think she'd have acquiesced without a fight. At least there was one thing on which she could confidently speak: "You are a true gentleman." Although her tone was teasing, there was truth in it, too, an indication of exactly what she thought of Zavien and his generosity.
They fell silent, the only sounds in the room that of their breathing and their shared heartbeats. Soh was sure the companions were around somewhere, but fortunately, they'd made themselves scarce for the better part of the evening. As she lay in Zavien's arms, eyes closed and a smile on her face, she thought that there couldn't possibly be anything better than this.
And when she drifted off to sleep without even really meaning to, it was to dream of the future that might await her by his side.
