Character of the Season
Frail in body but dangerously quick of mind, Nikandr is the sort of character who proves that curiosity can be just as perilous as any weapon. A necromancer, inventor, and problem-solver with more ambition than self-preservation, Niki approaches the world like a puzzle box begging to be opened, even when what’s inside has teeth. Blunt, dry-witted, fiercely independent, and carrying a history best left partially buried, he has a knack for making even failure feel fascinating. Whether he’s raising the dead, moving across Caido to King's End, or experiencing a hangover for the first time, Nikandr brings a wonderfully strange spark to Caido, and we can’t wait to see what trouble his brilliant mind wanders into next.
Congratulations, Niki!

“I didn’t think so either.” He says with a soft laugh as Aithne approaches the fountain again. Rain still falls, though, and Sunjata ignores it for the most part as she inspects the soon to be healing fountain and turns her attention back to him. He nods at her explanation, before he’s shaking his head to her question about light magic. “It heals and can harm. Depending on who’s allies or enemies at the time.” He could use it on anyone he perceives to be an enemy, which is why he thinks it’s beneficial here if he imagines the fountain as an ally. “It’s grey magic, though. I think if it was just healing it probably would be light. Perks of being a demigod, I guess.” He isn’t really sure at the end of the day.
What he does know, though, is that if she needs light magic specifically, that Sunjata can activate his usual water magic to help purify. He conjures it, his hand lifting to gesture a little as ribbons of water thread up along his hand, before he sends it onto the fountain to help purify it in case the healing rain hadn’t been enough while they wait until it’s completed. “This is light magic, though.” He offers the Ancient.
He uses his water magic while the rest is still on cooldown!

Sunjata speaks with an Australian accent and has a passive magic that makes him produce a subtle scent that matches exactly to whatever those around him most desire him to smell like.
While magic rain had seemed useful enough at first, when Aithne thought that it was simply to heal one's allies, her eyes light up at the thought that it can harm foes as well. "Oooo, can it do both at once?" she asks, eager to learn more. "That's so cool!" And so useful, she's sure, envious in spite of herself. She wonders if there's anything fun like that that she'll have access to, one day when she's grown into her Ancient abilities a bit more.
In any case, Sunjata next calls upon ribbons of water, sending them out to engulf the fountain with light magic. "Ooooo." Aithne might prefer fire over water, but she can appreciate the commitment to the element that Sunjata appears to have. She supposes that's why he was, at one point, called the Flood, it memory serves her right. "Is all your magic water-based?" she asks, flicking some droplets of rain off her cheeks.

“Yeah. It does.” He offers to her with a bright smile, amusement glittering in his face briefly as he spends the moment coaxing his water magic into it – the light kind that would hopefully add as a boon to purify it. Her oooo is met with a small smile he hides as he tilts his head and loosens the hold on the water, letting it drop across the fountain so he can bring back the healing rain.
He has to take a moment to think about all of his magic – what the percentage rate might be for water versus not water. He has to remember to not include his attuned shifts, either, so when he glances back over at her as the rain starts to fall – better than the rain that drizzles over them currently. It’s warm and healing, inviting, just as he had done before. “Most of it, yeah. I have some that are like channeling but everything else is water.” He murmurs, the rain falling onto his face and cheeks and sparking little floral tattoos to spread where his skin is wet. “I think maybe after this round it should be good? What do you think?” He asks her, unsure how many needed to be done, but something tells him three attempts to purify it should work.
Sunjata uses his healing rain again on the fountain!

Well, isn't that just nifty? He's nothing if not thematically on-brand - and if the two abilities she's seen are anything to go by, he's powerful, too, which Aithne can appreciate given that she's very much not. Intrigued, the girl watches as he summons more rain. This time, she doesn't bother to move - she's already wet, so what's a little more water added to the mix?
When he's done, Aithne nods. "It should be fine, I think," she says, despite not knowing one way or the other with any certainty. "So now we can go find some trouble." Eyes sparkling with mischief, it's unclear what she means by that - but she's chattering away as she leads Sunjata towards the Last Whisper, off to find a bar or a brothel or a gambling den, or maybe something more tame like some food or drink. Anywhere to dry off and warm up after so long stood out in the rain.
