Character of the Season
Frail in body but dangerously quick of mind, Nikandr is the sort of character who proves that curiosity can be just as perilous as any weapon. A necromancer, inventor, and problem-solver with more ambition than self-preservation, Niki approaches the world like a puzzle box begging to be opened, even when what’s inside has teeth. Blunt, dry-witted, fiercely independent, and carrying a history best left partially buried, he has a knack for making even failure feel fascinating. Whether he’s raising the dead, moving across Caido to King's End, or experiencing a hangover for the first time, Nikandr brings a wonderfully strange spark to Caido, and we can’t wait to see what trouble his brilliant mind wanders into next.
Congratulations, Niki!

WHAT IS GLASS BUT TORTURED SAND?
WHAT IS LIFE BUT DEATH PENDING?

drift over the dawn-lit trunks glowed an ethereal, shapeless breath; a single heartbeat stood amongst the twig, leaf and bracken. With emerald eyes and copper hair he almost appeared as part of the branches, another ornament of the woodland realm, though the creature that stood watchful amongst the trees was not in the slightest bit as benign and pleasant as the boughs and hollows.
Isengrimm Edelwolf was not an uncommon kind of man. He was a fox amongst a gaggle of geese, a wolf in sheep’s clothing — the list of idioms could grow until the cows came home. Like that fox who hid betwix the geese he was cunning and elusive, and as he stood as a hushed sentinal against the trunk of an oak bow drawn and arrow under thumb, he was also a viper coiled to strike.
But Isengrimm had no quarry to hunt today.
He had learned from a young age to always keep an arrow in your hand when you felt you had eyes upon your back.
If Isengrimm was the wolf amidst the fox, then Remi was a sheep to be sure.
The flash of copper hair in the dappled light immediately caught the alchemist's gaze; Ianto? Feeling his heartbeat quicken, Remi tried to follow the cloaked figure with about all the stealth and cunning of an overly excited dog waiting for its dinner. Please let it be him, Remi thought, trotting quickly over the mossy undergrowth as dextrously as he could.
"Hello—" He called out, his pleasantly accented voice singing through the air. Never one to prowl or stalk, the alchemist tried to make himself immediately known, though it was very likely the stranger (hopefully he wasn't, though) had heard him coming if he was at all diligent in being aware of his surroundings. However it was never Remi's intention to hide, and so as his voice carried out so too did the man try and poke his head through the trees to make his presence all the more obvious.
Dressed as he normally was in charcoal-stained paints and a light coloured shirt and wearing his sunny and boyish-looking smile, Remi raised a hand in completely unthreatening greeting.
